I’ve been trying to diversify the species that I fish for and have mostly only fished for largemouth in ponds near me. I recently attempted to fish near Harper’s ferry but failed miserably. I tried several baits, techniques, and tried a few spots but I came away with not a single fish. I think it would be best if I went with someone who was knowledgeable on the area and the techniques, but guide services are expensive. Does anybody know of any fishing clubs that would welcome a newbie who doesn’t have a boat or kayak? Or is anyone looking to show a newbie around for a day so I can learn how to fish for some smallmouth thanks everyone

Thanks so much for the help. What should I look for when casting either from the bank or wading. Rocks or deep holes? Above or below any rapids or fast moving water? I have some small white spinnerbaits with willow blades and some larger white flukes. Texas rig? And also would my little 3 inch grubs work

Hi, I’ve been catching a lot of largemouth in local ponds near me but I’m trying to branch out and catch some other species. I’ve seen that the upper Potomac has some good smallmouth fishing. I don’t have a boat unfortunately so I’d be limited to shore fishing. Does anyone know of some good fishing spots this time of year and some strategies? I have some chartreuse 3in grubs and 1/8 oz jigheads in my tackle box if those would work. Any other recommended tackle or techniques? Preferably any locations within 45 minutes from dc if possible. thanks everyone!
