First attempt became a finesses jig because the upper or “outer” stands wanted to shoot forward over the head of the jig. I used a rubber collar ring for the first one. I’ll try a wire wrap and also try leaving the strands longer on the next one. That should keep them from wanting to angle forward so much. I tried to attach a photo but it was too big.

Those look great, are those the finesse skirts or the standard size? I’m excited to get started once my order comes in.

I’m fairly certain those are the heads I ordered. 3/16 on a 3/0 hook from BOSS. I didn’t see the finesse cut skirts before I ordered unfortunately. Hoping I can get by with the standard skirts I ordered and pick up some finesse packs on my next order. Thanks!

Incredible insight and advice, I appreciate it everyone. I have fly tying experience so I understand why thread works well for stacking and adding subtle hits of color. That is a big reason why I want to start tying my own as well. I want to add in some orange undertones etc to jigs. When doing a wire wrapping, do ya’ll just do a single wrap and twist until tight enough? Shoutout to Siebert Outdoors as well, I placed an order from him a couple years back and was extremely impressed. He even accommodated my size request on a “random” batch I bought at discount. Really great stuff.

Thanks for the response Cadman. I fish the strike king bitsy jigs and they have the collar/band style ring, haven’t had too many problems with them yet. So I opted for that style instead for now. I’ll definitely try wire tying them, got any recommendations on diameter/material? I’m assuming either stainless or copper.

Not sure if jig assemble falls under lure making or not, but I want to start making my own jigs. I did a small amount of research, although I’m limited because I want to buy from 1 website I think I have it narrowed down. I’m just looking for feedback before I place my order. The value some of these companies put on their bundles is ridiculous. I wouldn’t even say the non sale price of $25 is worth it. But for $5 I thought it looked decent! Nice!

Walmart has the strike king 12 Days of Fishmas advent calendar for $5. Looks like it’s the V2 only. Comes with a KVD 1.5, mini spinner bait, a tumbleweed dice, and some assorted soft plastics. Killer deal if you dig the 1.5. Look at the reviews for a picture of what’s included. I don’t have anymore room for tackle or I’d buy 5 or so lol

North 40 outfitters has the tatula xt rod for $70 with free shipping. After learning my order was not possible after 14 days from sportsman’s warehouse this was a pleasant surprise. I’m not positive but I believe they have other rods and reels 30% off.

Daiwa Tatula sv tws 103 (TASV103HL) 6:3:1 on sale for $149.99 @ tackle warehouse. The daiwa model codes are rather confusing. I don’t believe this model has the zero adjuster knob. I picked one up to pair with a Tatula xt MH/F 7’ for some top water stuff and spinnerbaits/chatterbaits.

This setup will be for my heavier baits, 3/4 oz is likely my biggest. Some 3/8 oz jigs in there as well. I haven’t been bass fishing for very long but I love the 70 so far. I haven’t actually fished with it yet as my bass fishery is closed. I have casted it a few dozen times and I really like it, I wish I would have bought it as my 1st baitcaster. It has training wheels, I’ve actually tried to backlash it and was not successful. Can’t give much more feedback at the moment.

I just checked the line capacity on the 80 and I likely need something a tad bigger. Putting 50lb braid on whichever reel I get for the Tatula xt. I’d buy this reel “just because” if I didn’t just buy the sv tw 70 lol. This hobby is addicting.

The site is really weird to navigate. I’ve seen a couple Rapala lures (bought 2 husky jerks) on there. The listing is entirely in Japanese apart from the brand Rapala and the model of the lure. Yeah the rage chunks get packaged poorly all the time lol, I wasn’t surprised these had some flaws. All of the frogs, Choppos, senkos, and most of the war eagles I got were in brand new shape

Some of the stuff seems to be old or have GC issues. Overall I’m very pleased and will order again. But I bought 6 packs of strike king rage chunks and about 60-75% of the claws were imperfect and had none of the packages have scent. They were $2-$3 a bag and I’m positive the bass won’t care. One of the war eagle spinnerbaits I got had obviously been opened and was missing a spacer bead. Again, I don’t care. Everything else was really solid. Choppos for $5 ?! I will definitely be checking the site regularly and placing another order.

First time poster but I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for this resource. I’ve found and taken advantage of a few deals from here. Just wanted to send some findings of my own. Amazon haul is great. Berkley Choppo in maverick 105 is $4.89 War Eagle spinnerbaits are $4-$5 Swamp lords are $4.67 PS the popper style is a little smaller profile. berkley, strike king, Yamamoto, and Booyah have the largest selection on Amazon haul that I’ve found. Rapala stuff pops up now and then as well, got some husky jerks for $3 happy I found this page and hope I can contribute more in the future.
