You’re absolutely right, couldn’t agree more! That’s why we ate some of the medium sized fish. Have to keep the ecosystem balanced and thin the school at times. Lets the bigger ones get bigger!

Fished the Big Piney River Feb 28 2026 with the warm front during the winter. It did not disappoint! First time out there. Caught all my fish on a green pumpkin tube w a 3/16 weighted hook. First smally of the year I hooked into was 17.5in!!!

Couple acres! Caught a 5lber out of there last year there could be some over 6 this year

I’m putting in on the big piney courtesy of boiling spring campground and they’re gonna shuttle my yak and I up, and then I’ll finish on the Gasconade about a half mile or so down from the confluence. Bringing tubes, Ned rigs, and plastic craws. Any suggestions or tips are appreciated!

I fried up a bunch from my private lake on my hunting farm and they did not disappoint. Made nuggets. Right seasoning and breading, it was prime. Would have again.
