  1. Start out on the BFL's... fairly cheap entry fee and you can make some good money... then move up to the weekend series... BASS... or do both the BFL and WS... Then move to the BASS Opens... and try to get into the classic... thats about the only way I know to go if your not in a Fed. Nation club...
  2. Stored the boat for winter with about a 1/4 premium tank... as of last week, I added 3/4 premium to it... Since then I'm down to about 1/2 tank or a little less... Was the gas treated for storage and how long has the gas sat in the tank since you last used it? Gas was not treated. About a 1/4 tank left in it when I stored. Sat for roughly 2.5-3 months. Since then, I filled it up completely, and am down to about a 1/2 tank. Think all the bad gas has been run out of it?
  3. Yes. I've always run Premium through it. I was told to never run anything over 87 in my Opti. It even states in the manual to run 87. I am not saying this is your problem but it is several $ difference in fuel bills. Hmmm... that's nice to know... : When I bought the boat from the original owner, he stated he only ran premium... I decided not to change that up... I don't have to fill the tank much but when I do, it ain't cheap. Reckon it will hurt anything switching to 87? If it states that in the manual, I'll be sure to start running it... I dont think the grade of gas is the problem... Thanks! Dropped it off at the dealer today to fix a the leaking trim tabs, hydraulic fluid was leaking pretty heavily. Got quoted for about $400.. :-/ While it's there, I told him what was happening and asked him to check the plugs etc... Thanks for all the replies.
  4. Sure haven't.... but the wieght has remained the same (pretty much) since last year...

  6. I had my boat out this past week for a good long while.. It had set all winter, and took a while to crank, but it finally did... let it warm up real good etc, and it seemed to be running fine... untill I was heading back to the ramp... I decided to "open her" up... I let the hot foot down and trimmed her up and was amazed to see GPS speed at only 58, WOT. Now last year I easily got 68-70 WOT, trimmed up... Whats the deal???
  7. Improoved Cinch and Polomar get my vote.
  8. Yep... love fishing the fish head spin... On the bigger ones (1/2 and 1/4oz) I like the big fluekes, and when I'm fishing the smaller ones I like the baby flukes.... great bait for spots.... ;D
  9. I only use spoons for catching suspended fish in the summer/winter. In the winter it really works well. I like a Flex-It spoon for Spotted Bass. The spots will load up on structure and in schools, and when they suspend the only way to catch them is on a spoon/drop shot. I also like a silver Hopkins Shorty spoon in 1/4oz. If your on the right school, you can load the boat with 30-40 spots per stop.
  10. Are you only looking a new rigs? Or are used also in the equation? Because, for about 10K, you get yourself a use bass boat, wih a good strong motor on it... I'm betting you could find a 17-18' with a 150 or 175 in good condition for 10k....
  11. I'm nervouse already.... :-/ :-/
  12. Here's the deal.. I've got an "Eliminator" type tourney coming up in a few months... You win, you move on, you lose your out. First round is 4 hours, second round is 4 hours.. if you win both of those, you move on to the next day and a new lake. This time you fish all day, 7-3. If you win... you move on to the next round... which will be held a month and a half later... I've fished lots of Pot Tourneys on my home lake, with a few buddies... no big deal, even got some money out of it... ;D I'm registered as a boater in this tournament. I'll be fishing with a co-angler that they pair me up with... much like a BFL, etc.. My question: Any advice for a "first time boater"... Besides practicing... I'll be down there every weekend from here till May.. I always see all these "Co-angler rules to live by" and such... how bout helping a first time boater out... ;D ;D ;D
  13. Who's fished them?? Never been to either, planning on heading down there these next few weeks to try and get a feel for the lake(s)... got a tournament in a couple months, and I was just wanting some general info, if anybody has any...
  14. I need a rod to throw a Triple Trout swimbait on... this is what the rod will mainly be for... not much else... Looking to spend no more than about $100. Any suggestions???
