Rate the different brands of braided line.....
Do you guys experience any abrasive effects on your rods or reels? I remember something about that when braids started becoming more common in the early 90s. Spools on lower end spinning gear were taking some abuse, etc. Have those effects disappeared in modern braids?

what knot to use for a fluoro leader?
I thought about braid, and I may try it later this year. I know a lot of people on these forums swear by it. Does the braid have any abrasive effect whatsoever on your reel or the eyes of your rod?

what knot to use for a fluoro leader?
Sounds like a good knot. Do you like the Trilene fluoro? How does it compare to the Seaguar?

what knot to use for a fluoro leader?
I'm thinking about using a fluoro leader for some of my plastics this spring and was wondering what knot you guys might recommend. Or swivel rig, etc. I may decide to just bite the bullet, lay down the extra dough on a reel full of fluoro and forget the mono altogether, especially on soft jerkbaits and jigging, but the price of Seaguar has me thinking in terms of leaders right now.

Advice on which Loomis IMX rod
I'm seriously considering the MBR844C, but at $270 (Cabelas or BPS) I just don't know how I'm going to explain to the wife. :-/ I've looked on some auctions on EBay, but I'm reluctant to buy used. Anybody know where to get this rod new at a better price than $270? I read the earlier posts, but I wouldn't know where to start looking here in central KY.

Advice on which Loomis IMX rod
Did you mean new or used? If I could find a GLX rod in the 245 price range I'd grab it.

Advice on which Loomis IMX rod
So only real difference in this rod and the 7' rod mentioned by Roadwarrior is the length right?

Advice on which Loomis IMX rod
I'm thinking about stepping up to a Loomis rod, (casting) and have leveled my sights on the IMX series. GLX would be great, but for about $100 less I'd be getting a rod that is still head and shoulders above the GL series based on what I've read on these forums. I'm expecting to have to pay about $245. But I'm not sure which model to get. I want an all around do-it-all-rod, probably 6.5 feet long that can throw 1/4 to 3/4 oz. I'd like to be able to handle jigs, plastics, a little bit of everything. Suggestions?

What food do you pack in the boat for a day on the water?
He needs to start making two of those sandwiches. That boy's way too thin. Someday he's gonna connect on one of those big hawgs and it's gonna reel HIM in.

Yeah I mentioned that guy in my post, (see above) we must've read the same article.

What food do you pack in the boat for a day on the water?
I used to eat this stuff on camping trips growing up in KY. Don't think I tried the Saltines. Maybe that helps.

What food do you pack in the boat for a day on the water?
Didn't know where else to post this. Hope this is OK. I'm tired of cold pizza or PB&J sandwiches between casts. Anybody got some fresh ideas on some good grub that's easy to haul and easy to fix? One guy mentioned in one of the articles on this site that he packs hot dogs in boiling water inside a thermos so that several hours later he's got a hot option for lunch. Any other ideas?

falcon boxes
Can anybody confirm if these boxes fit in a boats' built-in tackle storage slots? As mentioned earlier, they're a different size than the standard Plano 3700's.

bps
Went yesterday to the Cincinnati location. Nothing like trying to find that elusive Black Ghost Shad Rap with 18 other guys in the aisle with me. The place was pretty crazy, but i had fun. A few good deals - mostly on BPS merchandise, but all Zoom plastics were 25% off. Found some Strike King Shaky head jigs marked down, etc. You kind of have to figure how much gas you're going to burn driving to get there vs. shipping charges online, vs. what you can find at Wally World, to understand if you're actually making any real savings. The 30 dollars worth of gas I burned to get there kind of offsets any savings I garnered on purchases. This is probably not the case if you plan on making more substantial purchases, say, multiple rods / reels. For me, the whole experience just makes for a fun afternoon I guess.

Do Falcon boxes fit in your boats tackle slots?
[update: I should have asked this question on the recent Falcon post instead of starting a new thread. Sorry moderator.] Can anybody using the Falcon boxes confirm that they fit in your boats' built in tackle storage slots? These boxes are a different size than your standard Plano 3700 and I was just curious.

keeping track of spinnerbait weights
Thanks everybody. Sounds like general consensus is the Sharpie marker. Guess i need to get me one.

keeping track of spinnerbait weights
I'm wondering if this has been posted before, but how do you guys keep track of all the different weights of your spinnerbaits? I've read of guys taking a fine point Sharpie marker and writing dive depths on the bottom lips of their crankbaits. But what can you do to help remember all the different weights in a binder full of spinnerbaits?

curious about GPS wide open speeds on 18' & 19' glass boats
Yes I've read very good things about basscats. I'm just not sure I'll be able to find one. Trust me, if I could find a good used 19 foot BC in my price range I'd seriously consider it, but I'm finding seeing a lot more Stratos, Tritons, Skeeters and Rangers here in central KY.

curious about GPS wide open speeds on 18' & 19' glass boats
Hey thanks! That's exactly the kind of general overall info I was looking for. I think that settles it, my target will be 19 footer & 200 horse motor.

curious about GPS wide open speeds on 18' & 19' glass boats
My nightmare is to buy a used boat from a dealership, then 1 or 2 months down the road have some kind of ridiculous problem that they won't follow up on. I've read a couple horror stories on these forums that have me a little gun shy as far as buying a used boat. And there's just no way i can afford to buy new. Luckily I have a guy i can take with me who knows boats and motors inside and out, so I'm keepin my fingers crossed. I'd love to find a '99 or 2000 Triton 196 w/ a 200 Merc in real good shape.

curious about GPS wide open speeds on 18' & 19' glass boats
Yeah I think the 19' is the best size for me. A guy I know has a '99 Triton and loves it. That's about as big a boat as I want to try to pull w/ my V6 Tacoma anyway.

Tacoma 3.4L V6 towing question
Thanks, these are the kind of responses I needed to hear. I knew the truck could probably handle it, just wanted to hear of some first hand accounts.

Tacoma 3.4L V6 towing question
I'm looking at 19' glass boats (Triton and Stratos) and am wondering if anybody has any experience towing a boat this size on a single axle trailer with a Toyota Tacoma 3.4L V6. My '95 V6 4X4 Tacoma is rated at 5000 lbs towing capacity, 190 horsepower, and it produces 220 lb·ft of torque. Anybody pull with a V6 Tacoma?

How do you like your Triton?

curious about GPS wide open speeds on 18' & 19' glass boats
Just curious as to what kind of speeds (GPS) guys are getting on 18 and 19 foot glass bass boats, I'll assume most will have maxxed powerplants. Based on typical water conditions, etc. I'm looking at buying a used glass boat in this size soon and, although I'm not a speed freak, I am curious as to what kind of top end I can expect w/ a max rated powerplant. Thanx
