Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)

Featured Replies

I like a white rage craw or the new rage lobster right now fished almost weightless.  If you see any new vegitation starting to grow make sure you fish it. I have not seen any yet, but i dont have too many hours there yet. Usually it is gonna be in the bright sun areas. If my thinking is correct (understanding what i read) dead weeds suck up the oxygen but any green makes oxygen and fish want oxygen. The water is still cold so they are still relaxing but they still need to eat.   Right around the island that you see to your left when you leave the launch gets lots and lots of sun.  You will see the laying down trees and stumps sticking right up.  I usually start there.  Also a bright red crank bait also slow slow.  The water is not deep there so i use a Manns shallow runner with a very small bill,  they run only a foot or so deep   This has caught me many pickerel around that island , but it is still early early in the season. Have fun and i hope you catch some fish.  I may be there Sunday morning if these temps stay up a bit.

Went out for some smallmouth today and we got what we wanted! The first fish I hooked up with was without a doubt my biggest smallie... I thought I was on the bottom until I felt her head shake, then

Shane and I got out today, fished a new sport for the first time and put together an alright day. Lots of pickerel, some pretty small bass but I did manage my biggest fish of the year SO FAR at 6lbs o

  • What's up, everyone?! Figured I'd bounce on here, say hi. I got so tied up in chasing fish this year, I forgot to do anything else. I hope you all are happy and healthy in this new year, and have big

Hey Shane!

Yeah, I've got a little girl who just turned 2.  No better time IMHO to start training her to be the first women  winner of the Bassmaster Classic.  :)

Just hit Dicks in Keene today and wiped them out of 4" senkos, bitsy bug jigs and a few other things.

Are we doing the fishing get together this year? If we do let's try around the Southern area this time if that works for you all.

Works for me!

UNH  Set it up

I went out to Nashua River today got skunked still kinda cold for bass activity and it was windy, but it was nice to get out on the water and get a taste. I'll probably start at the beginning of May so in the mean time ill get more practice in with my compound and get ready for whitetail season again :D

Couldn't agree more Mike. I personally hate fishing in the cold anyways. I usually go shooting indoors till fishing season.

If Spofford works for everyone, it's a great place.  Huge parking lot with a ton of parking as well as a double ramp.  It's got some rocks to watch out for, but otherwise I think it's got it all.

That's a little more north, but if that's what all of you think then it's a idea. I was more thinking southern like Nashua, hollis, Hudson. Put your thoughts in and we can vote.

Do you shoot your bow indoors??? or are you talking about guns???

Hey anyone fish salmon falls river or salmon fall reservoir near rollinsford i'm lookin to see if anyone knows what species are in there or if there are any outboard restrictions thanks for any info

Mike what did you fish with at the Nashua river?  from a boat or shore? did you fish around the island areas ? Did you see any green starting to grow yet?

I have never fished the Nashua River and have wanted to for a while.  If there was a get together there that would be a great reason to finally get down to fish it.  I've heard and seen good things come out of there.

I'm in the process of having my engine worked on so hopefully this gathering isn't too soon, i'd love to be a part of it.

I fish the Nashua river lots, its convient for me andI like fishing the river but its a lot of water to fish ,  Same with the Merrimack.  a lot of guys dont like fishing rivers. Too much area to cover.  I fish it probably 50 times a year,  sometimes 4 or 5 mornings a week. I just work my way up the river to spots that i have found fish and keep looking for areas that look like the habitat should have fish. For the past 2 years i have been fishing it heavy.   I usually get on the water about 5 am for 2 1/2 to 3 hours and get to work by 8:30.  Because i only have a small motor or canoe i dont get too far up the river into the Hollis area, where many people say the best fishing is.   My PB 6lb 1 oz came out of the Nashua river last year.    Its is a lot of area to cover.

I'm up for fishing the Nashua River.  Sounds good to me!

I used a senko wacky rig I fished some stumps and trees in the water, but got nothing tried drifting down the river while dragging a T rigged lizard on the bottom near some cover still got nothing ha ha I think its still to early and the fish are still lethargic, but there was no green vegetation mostly dead cover like hay and other trees and such windy as well

I shoot guns indoors

yea , it is definatly cold water and slow fishing.   Part of my thinking is if i can find them now and catch them now, meaning in this cold weather, i can learn to catch them anytime of the year. it is definatly tough right now.  Last year i caught large and small mouth in every month except december.  I have been so busy for the last few months i have very little time on the water.  This year i have smallmouth in feb and march small ones less than 2 lbs, no april yet.  The pickerel are biting, but i have yet to latch onto anything bigger then 17 inch so far in 2013.    I am also going to be searching out to catch a walleye this year , never caught one.  And a pike,  a bigger one.  Biggest pickerel i have is 25 inch. Would really like to catch a big pike.

I like that train of thought there, Nev. I live by the same. If you can catch 'em in 37 degree water, the rest of the year is EASY!! Not to mention, that the spots you catch them in now, will be the exact same spots you will find them in post-spawn, and in the heat of summer mid-day. Kinda like bass boot camp!
