Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)

Featured Replies

Anyone got any tips for catching trout this time of year? I wanna try it out with my spinning gear near some rivers around me. Don't really no where to go around here, but I have an idea. What has worked for you guys this time of year I know the water must be pretty cold and I don't know how active trout are now, but it gets me outta the house and who knows I might like it. I will be using my spinning gear so any help revolving around that would be good.

Went out for some smallmouth today and we got what we wanted! The first fish I hooked up with was without a doubt my biggest smallie... I thought I was on the bottom until I felt her head shake, then

Shane and I got out today, fished a new sport for the first time and put together an alright day. Lots of pickerel, some pretty small bass but I did manage my biggest fish of the year SO FAR at 6lbs o

What is this, troutresource.com? Go throw some jigs and jerkbaits for some bass!

I know I know lol, but I currently don't have my canoe and I don't quite know any places to shore fish from that will be productive for bass lol.

put a worm on a hook with some split shot up a little ways and throw it. some powerbait might work good too

Well I took your advice NH dressed warm and went to the Nashua River shore fishing haven't gotten anything yet but enjoying getting out of my house. If anyone wants to come and fish I'll be down here for a good while and if you would like to take a boat or canoe or something out I would provide some hot cofee or donuts.

Just got off the river was there from about 1:30 till 4:40 so a good 3 hours I'd say. Didn't get a single bite , but I saw tons of bait fish near the shallows where I was fishing which was a good sign. Also it was nice to learn and feel out the jig starting to like it, but I really wanna get it down to a science and catch some hogs. I get out of work at 3:00 pm tomorrow so if anyone wants to fish tomorrow on the river or anywhere near that area and needs a buddy I am game for anything.

There ya go! Even if you didn't get any fish, it can never hurt to learn your baits better, so thats still a successful trip.

Just wish I had the canoe man would have opened up so many options on the river today saw some good timber that I had a hunch was holding some pigs. Too bad the thule's take so ********** long to ship not to mention there a hefty load of change.

Saturday will be the first day on the water for me

Oh, and Here is that new reel I got today. I moved the Tourny Pro off that rod, and put on my new B.B.1 Pro, spooled up some pretty friggin' sweet Smackdown, and there you have one nasty Flippin' stick, topwater, and Carolina Rig setup.

So nice I can smell the new reel scent!

Sweet new reel Shane.

Last weekend I was going through my tackle boxes and switching lures out and made the mistake of dumping all of my unopened lures in front of my girlfriend, who proceeded to count them and said I had an addiction, no news to me.  I had over 130 lures unopened not counting soft plastics or what was already in my bag.  Just out of curiosity was wondering if everyone on here, has similar amounts?  I am guessing I will be on the low side

Mainebass where are you headed Saturday?

My wife has already accepted my addiction to fishing, so she knows what I got. I have no idea of how much of this, how many of those , or exactly what ungodly amount of plastics I have, but I do know this. It does not all fit in 4 tackle bags, 14 shoeboxes, two huge totes, several mid sized boxes, the bottom of my double closet, under the bed, and under the dresser, that's for sure. I know, because I still gotta put some stuff from today away somewhere!

Lone wolf,  if she makes you get rid of them i will ay the postage to have them sent to me.

Lonewolf that sounds like one healthy addiction! I m at a point where I'm trying to only buy lures to replace ones that I lose... I'm not very good at it. Trying to set money aside to eventually upgrade my boat rather than have lures I won't take with me on the water. Anyways... I'm proud and jealous of you and you 130 unopened lures!

Better to have and not need as the saying goes! Plus life is short, what's 5-10$ for something that makes u :D

Yep figured I would be on the low side sounds like you have about 10 times more than me shane.  Nev I think I would find a new girlfriend if she even suggested it.  clr9933 a good portion of them are a lure they quit making quite a few years ago and as soon as I found out I bought every one of them I could find.  Definitely a healthy addiction though

Man, my garage looks like the basspro warehouse.

Shane that setup is SHARP!

First lacrosse game tomorrow, against a rather tough team but we only graduated one senior last year and he was a 3rd line midfielder lol. We did win all of our games in our jamboree so hopefully we'll make a run in the playoffs this year...

-EXTREMELY excited for the high school bass season this fall! Gonna work very hard this summer!

So I took the Nucanoe on the Lamprey last Sat.  Beautiful day, but only caught one small rainbow trolling a small spinner near one of the banks.  I tried everything in my arsenal.  Was looking for any signs of species other than trout.   I'll be hitting the Lamprey again this Sat, and a trout pond in Mass on Sunday.  Water temps are obv. still pretty cold, but it felt great just to be out on the water.

I probably do best with inline spinners for trout.  Panther Martin Black with gold  in 1/16 oz. is my go to lure for stocked trout around Southern NH.  If I'm going somewhere with native trout, I'll up the size to 1/8 oz.  If you aren't using an ultra lite rod with low lb. test, you would probably be better off using 1/8 oz.

The trout in my profile pic was caught with a 1/16 oz black/gold Panther Martin.  She weighed 4 lbs.  Was a great fight on my ultra lite rod with 4lb. Floro.  That was up north at the CT River.

Reading the posts here I don't feel alone with my addiction to fill my boat with what I think I might need not what my wife thinks I should have.
