Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)

Featured Replies

How did you get down there? I've heard that there is a pond down there as well. Any truth to that?

Ya theres a dirt pathway to get down there, right after the sand and gravel entrance. Then you have to walk down from the parking area, Its a tiny pond, holds some decent sized bass though. If you get bored with fishing the bass in there, you can jump down to the river and usually hook up on some rainbows. Also there is another pond with-in the sand and gravel place, we when its shut down you can sneak in there, haven't really caught anything in it though. But, never tried much.

Went out for some smallmouth today and we got what we wanted! The first fish I hooked up with was without a doubt my biggest smallie... I thought I was on the bottom until I felt her head shake, then

Shane and I got out today, fished a new sport for the first time and put together an alright day. Lots of pickerel, some pretty small bass but I did manage my biggest fish of the year SO FAR at 6lbs o

  • What's up, everyone?! Figured I'd bounce on here, say hi. I got so tied up in chasing fish this year, I forgot to do anything else. I hope you all are happy and healthy in this new year, and have big

Interesting. Ill have to check that out. Too small for a tin boat?

Did Milton 3 Ponds today windy only got 3 smallmouths today. lake is really low and hard to launch the boat.

Yup, windy for sure. Got out for a couple hours today, and found that the water is still cold, but this warm up is working. Caught 7 altogether, with a couple descent ones mixed in. One of the 3 1/2's that I caught, had one at least 7 follow it all the way to the boat, and it hung around the whole time, until his buddy was in my hand, then she slowly swam away. If the smaller one would have shaken my jig, I'd have caught a pig today. Swim jig with a Baby Craw on it was doing the trick, but I had to go up to a 3/8oz jig.

Got out on Pleasant Pond in Francistown this morning, before the wind was to to bad. Slow day, water is still quite cold there. Ended up catching 4 total, 3 1-2lbs Smallies and one nice slab 5.4lb Bucket. Was throwing a crankbait in 8-12ft of water, parallel with the bank. Going to go out to Baboosic tomorrow before work, we'll see how it goes.

Nice one, man!

If you wanna drag it down over the hill it's worth bringing one down there, I've brought my john boat down there a few times. Pain in the butt getting it back up, but usually worth it on the right days.

Ill have to check it out. Currently building a house right near there.

Tried out Ballard's pond in Derry yesterday as well as Big island pond and only caught 2 Pickerals. Very disappointing day.

Did Swains lake today only one bass in the boat by my dad. I got many bites but it seems the bass were just picking up the bait but not holding it when I go to set the hook. Wonky day. Lake temp up to 57-58 spawning is coming early to this lake

Got out on Turttle Town today and battled the wind with CLR9933 for around 4 hours and only caught a 1 lb. largemouth. Second half of the day we went over to Rollins Pond in Gilmanton (Recomended by Shane) and got 4 largemouth with the biggest hitting 2.5 lbs. All 5 fish were caught on different baits in different parts of the lakes, so we couldn't get a solid pattern going, but still a good day on the water.

Got out to Freese's Pond in Deerfield this evening for about 3 hours with a buddy of mine. I caught my first bass of a season, a 3lb LMB, as well as a 2lber and a 1lber, and my buddy caught his first bass ever, a 4-12 LMB. The pickerel were pretty active too, we landed about 10, and had quite a few hits. All of my fish were caught on a black and blue chatterbait w/ a baby brush hog trailer. My buddy's fish were caught on a blue and white spinnerbait.

Nice job, bwillis and company!

Nhbassin, whats the water temp at turtle and rollins? Glad you all got on a few!

Got out to Spofford today couldn't get out onto the water until almost 9AM due to the fog, having never been on this body of water before I wasn't taking a chance of running into one of the numerous hazards I've heard about on this lake, could only manage 7 fish today biggest right at 5lbs, a couple of 3s and the rest 2 and under all LM, all caught on jigs with rage tail craw trailer in grn pumpkin with the claws dipped in JJs magic chartruse,(the guy I was with thought the JJs was was all show no go, so I dipped his jig trailer in it and first cast he hooks up,he wasn't laughing anymore) threw everything but the kitchen sink at the smallies but couldn't find em. water temps low 50s and a stiff breeze made boat control a little tough. Want to thank Fintan (member here) his recommendations and knowledge of this lake was right on the money. couldn't post pics of the 5, says pics are too big and my computer skills are not that gd so when I talk to my son for some help I'll post it up. keep em wet

Hey all, I don't mean to hijack the thread just want you all to know that the state of NH has a bill in front of the lawmakers to further restrict the use of lead in all NH's freshwater. You can read more about it in my post in this sub forum named "NH Fisherman unite". I hope you can take some time and read up on it and voice your concerns to the powers that be.

We dont have a depth finder or a thermometer on the boat currently, so Im not sure of the water temps. I doubt it was any higher than 50.

I went to PetSmart the other day and bought an aquarium thermometer for like $3, tied it to an extra spool of line, and just throw it in the water. Not the fanciest thing, but you can get a surface temp.

Hey guys we got out this weekend. Water temp was 50-55 and the fish really started biting the jig in the early to late afternoon. Caught the 4 lb 6 oz in the morning on the jig as well. I wish there was a better pic than this cell phone one..she had a really full belly of eggs.

Tight lines all.

Nice job, Jay! I'm lovin' jigs right now, too. All of my bigger fish lately have been coming on a jig.

Thanks Shane...I'm loving the jig this spring.

Hey guys...we should probably set up a NH 2012 Get Together soon...maybe at Stumpfield?

I was also thinking of doing the meetup at the Quabbin Reservior in MA. You cannot have anything over a 20 hp stroke/25 hp 4 stroke, so a lot of us may have to rent boats. No jon boats or canoes allowed either.

We would also have to buy a 1 day license, but I have heard it is well worth it. I was thinking of doing it the 3rd week in May, so please chime in if you are interested.

Not sure that would work Jay. Alot of us have outboards bigger then 20hp. I'd rather use my boat as well.

Just finished Swains today lake temp 60-62 in 5-9 feet of water and 57 at 30 ft depth, caught several Lg and one smallie all and all a good day.

yeah, mine is a 90, so I would have to rent as well. If you do a litttle research about the Quabbin, it may change your mind ;)

Im also always open to ideas if anyone has a good lake in mind.

Money is tight for me so if we can find another place that would be better for me.

Yeah, I know the feeling with a little one at home. I'm wide open to any suggestions. Stumpfield is currently still on the table as an option. Looked like it had a decent amount of water for how dry it's been.
