Spinning Reel Problem

Featured Replies

Hey anyone have any idea why the line just falls off my daiwa fuego 3000a spinning reel? Ive tried 12lb bps excel, and 12lb suffix seige. The line litterally falls off in loops. Any advice appreciated.

It sounds to me like you overfilled the spool, try leaving about 1/8" of the spool lip uncovered.

12# line on a spinner? You're always going to have a problem. I don't go over 6# mono or 20# braid on a spinner.

That's heavy line for a spinning reel, even a 3000 size reel. If you really need that heavy of a line, go with braid and use a fluorocarbon leader as necessary. Anyway, that's how I'd solve that problem.

Its rated for 8 10 and 12 lb test. Think im going try 8 or 10. I never had a problem before with 12lb on my spinners.

I have to disagree somewhat with some previous comments. Before I started using braid I used some 12# Trilene XL on 2500 size Daiwas with no problems. I don't know how the two lines you mentioned compare to the Trilene.

Were you using the same lines as you use on the Fuego? My bottom line is that using small diameter, limp lines should not cause any noticeable problems on a spool of 2500 size or larger.

Yes sir, Quantom KVD 40 Spinning reel. 12lb bps excel mono (same as i tried on the fuego) no problemo what so ever.

I dont really need heavy line anyways. I just bought a huge spool of that BPS Excel 12 lb test.

I used to throw 12 lbs xl on a mitchell 300xe back in the day when i had only 1 setup with no problems. Like others have mentioned you may be over filling the spool. Try KVD line and lure to make the line a little more limp. I would suggest going down in line size though and use KVD L&L. Try Yo Zuri hybrid in 6 or 8 lbs. The 6 lbs i believe has a breaking strength of 12 lbs. I use 8 lbs yo zuri on my spinning reels and it works amazing. Especially with the line and lure conditioner.
