Any opinions on the Berkley Flicker shad diving minnows ? They come in 2 1/4" and 3", both with rattles, and dive around 8'-12'. I'm kinda new to bass fishing with lures, what's a good color pattern for stained to muddy water ? Sunny or cloudy ? Right now I have a 2 1/4" black and chrome colored one. The bass in my area average 10"-14" ; will the 2  1/4" be the better length for that size fish ? I'm a real newbie so any advice on color and size would be great. -Thanks !!!!!  :-?

The way I usually go about determining color is this:  In clear water I go with natural looking colors.  Chrome and blue or black, baby bass, shad colors, green pumpkin, watermelon.  In stained or muddy water I go with black and junebug, or really bright colors like chartruese or firetiger.  Either the 2 1/4 or 3 would be fine for what you are doing.  Bass are predators who will attack baits of any size.  You may scare off a few of the smaller fish with a 3", but who wants to catch smaller fish anyway.

Last August Gander Mountain had an introductory sale on the Flicker Shad. I'm a big fan of the Rapala Shad Raps, but I thought I would give them a try. I got the shad, blue tiger, hollywood, and chart. pearl.

For the short period of time I fished them last season I was impressed. They ran true out of the box, and dive a little deeper than the Shad Raps. Most importantly, they caught smallies.

BTW, I have the #7 size (3").
