Take your pick. I've caught plenty of fish using them either way.

If you leave the tail together they to glid a bit and split the tail for more action!

I normally split the tails, but have fished them both ways!

I do not split them. For me beavers are a bait that works best when the fish are looking for a smaller profile or subtle movement. l use a baby or full size Brushhog or creature bait, a worm of some sort, or a skirted jig when they are interested in a larger bait or more action.

I can say this, as much as I like the larger beaver and rodent style baits, I have had an absolute ball lately using the SK baby Rodent and the RI Smallie Beaver. I prefer the rodent, fits just a little better on the hooks I've been using. Those smaller sizes make a killer punch bait. Kind of like a BB Cricket, just with some more bulk.

The smaller size has also been producing well for me lately.

Try the Missle "Da Bomb" beaver. It blows the rest out of the water. Softer plastic, ribbed body, and thin tails that move alot on the glide!

Split the tail. These things are awesome. RI sweet beaver. Texas rig with a 3/8 ounce weight and drag on the bottom. Caught the biggest bass I have ever caught this past friday with one of these. Caught one today, and had 3 more swimming right beside it while I reeled it in.

Any of you guys ever use sweet beavers on top of moss, etc.? Never really used 'em but wondered if they work kind of like a frog if t-rigged weedless.

Do not seem like they would work very well over slop like a frog. Not saying some cray fish would not hit it but there are better options for sure.

i like the sk rodents a little more as well but depending on color and size, ill go with the ri sweet beaver. theres one store in my area that carries sk rodents and their color selection as well as size is very limited. theres 3 that carry all the ri products.
