Im looking for the strongest hook for my flipping jig mold, something with real sturdy wire and a sharp point, currently using mustad ultrapoints 32786bln, guy who wants me to make him some is saying he wants a stronger hook because he frequently bends these.

Try the Owner 5304 deep throat jig hook, it usually fits molds that take the mustad 32786. The Owner hook has the 2X strong shank, both the Mustad 32786 and the Owner 5304 are good strong hooks but the deep throat design of the Owner may help but give it a shot, I never had a complaint with that hook.

Owner has a heavier hook that is 3x strong, let me find it.

Description

It's a 5317

ROUND BEND, WIDE GAP flip'n'pitch jig hooks, with a 60° eye-bend and a heavy-duty, forged XXX strong shank, ideal for horsing big bass out of heavy cover. Black Finish.

This Hook will fit most molds that are designed to use an Eagle Claw 730 Hook.

I forgot about that hook!!! Yep that too is a good one, I like the 5304 better as the deep throat holds really well but either hook should be fine.

The one that will take the flat eye or the other eye.

Where are you buying your owner hooks from? Theyre much more expensive than the mustads! 40 cents a hook!

You mean 60° correct not 30°

I like the 5304's as well. I get mine from Lure Parts On Line.

Barlow's but they were over $ .50 each!!!

Lure Parts on Line has the (5304 hooks) for 45 cents each when you buy a 100 pack. 5/0 size. Owner hooks are very good buit they are very expensive.

The deep throat is a lighter wire thane the 5317. The 5317 has a longer neck on them and are harder to get in some mold sizes than the deep throat. Its neck is a little shorter making easier to get a larger size in the mold.

What hook is your favorite?

I don't use them much myself. I mainly use for customers that request them. When I have used them, for casting, light duty flipping I like the deep throat. If I'm really in the stuff and gonna be laying the coals to em I use the 5317 since it is heavier.

The Gamakatsu 5941 are a pretty beefy hook in the flat eye configuration.
