Budget Tungsten

Featured Replies

I am looking to buy some tungsten weights for punchin' and wondered if anybody knows where I can find some cheap.  I normally use tru tungsten flippin' weights, but they are awfully expensive.  Are there any cheaper alternatives that are of similar quality?  Thanks folks.

The drawback is that the cheaper ones have plastic inserts which can be cut by and fray the braid, and also are harder to peg. Sensitivity is a wee bit hindered but shouldn't affect much if your punchin

Agreed. I don't like using tungsten weight with sleeves. I feel that it isn't the same as the Trutungsten ones which are sleeveless. I'm still looking for sleeveless alternatives but I haven't found one yet.

The ones from the site I posted don't have sleeves, they are very similiar to the over priced weights  you can buy from tru tungsten, smoothed inside edges and all.

I wonder if they have changed since you last ordered? The site says they have a plastic insert.

I see that now that you point it out, I'll post pics of a pack I have. I bought about $50 bucks worth and not one of them came with a plastic insert. I dislike the ones that come with the inserts.

I was going to order a few. I have not used Ti before, but I know it gives you a better feel for what's going on. Just haven't been able to justify the cost.

Ti is titanium, W ("wolframite") is tungsten

I never claimed to be the sharpest knife in the set. :-[ Good thing I guess. ::D ;D Thanks for heads up. 8-)

I would not try the tungsten unless your committed to the cost once I tried them I couldnt go back to lead

I tried some of the Tru-Tungsten late last year and must say they are very very nice.  Just hate the price, but unfortunately once you try them you will never go back to anything else.

Later, :D
