Large Capacity Low Profile

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I'm looking for a decently priced (>$120) low profile reel with a huge line a capacity. I checked the search function, and apparently it doesn't work for me. I tried things that i know would come up (typed in the title of a thread) and it didn't work. I was hoping someone could help me out. By large capacity I mean 12/160 or so. 5.2:1 would be ideal. I'm actually looking to use it for light musky stuff (9 inch sluggos, magnum flukes, light spinners) so I would like to have at least 120yds of 50lb braid on it. It will probably double as a cranking reel when I need it for a tourney. Thanks

the lew's tournament MG comes close to fitting all your specs: 12/150 line capacity, 5.4:1 gear ratio and $130 and very low profile. the bass pro shops pro qualifier may fit the bill too...i know for a fact that the lower gear ratio'd PQs have a larger line capacity than the rest of the lineup as they have a smaller, solid spindle instead of the wiffle spool despite what the BPS website says.

I have 2 MG reels, one with 250 yards of 8lb test and one with 14lb cranking fluro.

If you stretch your budget out a bit the Abu Garcia Revo Toro is a great reel. Holds a ton of line. In fact I have two that I use on my musky set ups.

If you have an academy close this would suit your purpose very well

I have the regular lp and it's a great reel.
