Didn't read all the replies so sorry if this ones been suggested. I'm using Yo-Zuri Ultra 8# on a spinning and 12# on a baitcaster, try the Pitzen (also known as 16/20) with lots of spit, trim as usual.

It's VERY EASY to tie and seems very reliable.

Forgot to mention, when you tie it correctly you will feel a little "pop or snap" as it seats in place.
