I'm getting a new Lew's Tournament MG 5.2:1 and I wanna get a good Crankbait rod. I generally throw 3 to 10 foot cranks. Any rod suggestions?

110, have you tried searching yet? Should find plenty of threads. Can't personally help you as I don't have a dedicated crankbait rod other than my Falcon Cara which cost about twice that much although I received it as a replacement for an Expert. Some say the BPS Crankin' Stick is an excellent rod for the money. You could also check out the Bucoo 7' Medium and 7' Medium Falcon Original.

EDIT: Check this thread for a couple more suggestions.

The Bucoos are very nice, and generally have that slow action thats nice for cranks.

The Cabelas Prodigy 7' MH/MF PDC705-1 1/4-1oz is right at $100 and should work well for you.

I was looking at the Falcons, I wouldn't mind one of those.

I'd highly suggest the Powell Diesel glass. Great rod for the price, for sure. I prefer graphite, but I would have bought this rod if it had come out a year earlier. The Falcon rods are nice, too.

I agree with Bassin, the premiers are good, they are tanks but run over your budget by $10-30

the triumph is a little heavier than a advertised, a medium feels more like a mix between a M/MH

Thanks for the replies guys, I have high end cranking rods but they are all for 15+ divers and I don't feel enough with them if I choose to throw a DT5 or Bomber A 8ft. I might go with the Powell, but I saw a few rods that I liked today that had a very bulky blank. Does the powell have a blank similar to the thickness of the Skeet Reese Cranking Glass rod?

BTW, Rapala doesn't make a DT5, only a DT4 and a DT6 but a 5 would be awesome.

i am somewhat obsessed with crankin' rods, having bought the lamiglas XCF-705R, SR705R and SR765R, the dobyns 704cb and 705cb glass, powell max 704cb, 754cb and 765sw/cb, g.loomis CBR845, shimano 7MM crucial, as well a a few of the BPS crankin' sticks. however, my favorite crankin' rod isn't really even a crankin' rod: the abu-garcia veritas 7-foot medium/moderate-fast. at 4.1 ounces, it is the lightest of them all with just the perfect amount of tip to keep treble hooks pinned but plenty of backbone. it casts my super light rapala balsa shad raps the best of any rod i have too. this rod has me thinking of trying out the veritas winch.

I would not suggest the Medium Bucoo unless you are throwing light cranks. It is extremely flimsy, more like a ML.

You need to take a look at the Denali Jadewood 7' Med. crankbait rod. It has a very thin blank with quality components and I honestly believe you find a nicer rod on the market for $100. I have one and love it. It looks and performs like a rod that costs a lot more. Denali rods are top of the line and the Jadewood series is a big seller.

The BPS Crankin' Stick is a much better deal. The Silaflex is good in heavy current and works well if you like to do some trolling. If you are really strapped for cash they will get the job done but there are better rods for not much more money. My Dad was getting tired of watching me land fish while he lost his at the boat. I was using a crank rod, he was using a worm rod to throw cranks. He got a Silaflex and it fixed his problem but he upgraded to a Crankin' Stick after a couple trips.
