First of all, what specs? I was thinking between 7-3 and 7-6, leaning more towards 7-6 but am really not sure what would be best.

Medium heavy fast sound about right?

Aside from that, what specific rod would you recomend? I really can't decide.

I am by no means rolling in the cash, but I am considering going for a dobyns champion possibly, but that again I kind of just want to stick with something cheaper and get a veritas or something in the 100-150 range.

I fish them on 7'0" MH fast rod, but I feel like you could step it up to 7'6" for sure.

I fish a Daiwa Procyon (a relatively cheap rod that has been a work horse for me).

It works for me, but I'd trade it for a Dobyns if I could haha

I use a 7'3" vendetta. Its been a good rod with great action and the length seems perfect for me . Not to short, and not to long, but would certainly go up to a veritas if given the option.

Take a look at Denali Rods. I use the 7' MH Rosewood Worm/Jig Rod for that type application. The same rod will also work for Carolina Rig, 1/8 oz. Texas Rigs and it also throws wacky rigged Senkos extremely well. It is a very versatile rod. It sells for $200. These rods are comparable to the Loomis IMX rods I had previously been using. Denali also has a Jadewood line of rods that sell for $100. This is a very popular line of rods for Denali. I have the Jadewood cranking rod and I honestly don't think you'll find a nicer $100 rod.

If you want something lightweight, very sensitive, perfect action, and affordable, you need look no further than Powell. You can get a 7' MH Max Series for $140, or wait until certain websites have their Memorial Day sale...

Max series rods come with a lifetime warranty and great customer service (two very important, but often overlooked qualities when selecting a new rod).
