VMC just lost me as a customer for life. I have bought two different versions of their shakey heads now the first one I broke the entire pack of hooks on little 2-3lb fish and the hook literally just broke. Picked up a different version of their shakey heads a week ago to give them one more try. Well tonight was the last straw! I set hook and she took off I am not sure how big she was but I know from the spot I was fishing and other 5lb fish I caught recently she was pushing 7-8lbs. Got half way to the boat and she just came off! Upon further examination of my jig head the hook was completely straight. That for me is unacceptable. Anybody else have VMC issues?

iv been using the VMC Spinshot since they came out and i have not had a single problem. I have actually been more than impressed.

I was tonight; however, I have tried using a mono leader, and I have used straight 15lb copolymer.

Love their trebles, never tried their worm hooks or shakeyheads. That sucks to bust a hook like that.

Shoot the company an email and explain what happened to you. Who knows what will happen

been using the "out-barb" trebles as replacement hooks on lures a lot lately,and the EWG worm hooks for years without any issues? [had a great topwater bite tonight on super spook jr's w/ #6 outbarbs.] love the 4X perma steels for saltwater too! Did they bend-straight or break in half?

Take tom d's advice and shoot em an e mail..i'd like to hear the outcome.

hmm thats weird, i use their fast grip straight shank worm hooks and have never had one issue.

I flip the fast grip straight shank and use the short shank EWG treble hooks....love both never had a problem.

Hopefully your incidence is an isolated one. Finding fish can be tough, last thing you need is technical problems!

Just sent VMC's customer service an email explaining what happened with my hooks. We will have to wait and see how they handle this.

Most shakey head hooks aren't a very heavy wire, using straight braid to something like that is likely why you straighted it out. A leader is hardly going to help. And 15lb line? Thats still a good way to open up a couple hooks. Heck, I've bent open some flipping hooks on wood before with 15 pound flouro.

Lighten up your tackle a bit for these finesse baits.

Agreed with Chrisaw, your tackle is way to heavy for light finesse baits, 15lb floro should be 8lb floro on a medium to medium light spinning reel, light wire hooks were never meant for heavier equipment

I have alot of their shaky head's only problem iv ever had was one of the springs fell out and it was once after I closed it in the tackle box latch rushing not paying attention and it got mangled and I tried to straighten it out or curl it how ever ya wanna look at it and it came out.

Yep, I'm with this too! I use 8lb line, mostly copoly but a friend of mine uses braid with a leader but the leader is made with 10lb mono and the drag is super loose. I make my own shaky heads and I have used Mustad, Gamakatsu and even the 5326 Owner cross eyed hooks and all use the same light wire construction and any of those hooks used with a super line or should I say over 12lb test is going to bend tempered hooks or break forged hooks. I think if you use some lighter tackle you will find the hooks aren't bad.

Those light wire shakey head hooks don't require a hard hookset. Doing so will result in straightened hooks all the time.
