Bps Carbonlite Vs. Signature Series

Featured Replies

Looking at getting a new baitcaster and was looking a the BPS reels and I was wondering the difference between Carbonlite and Signature Series. Which ones better, or which one you prefer.

Have both. Would be a difficult choice to pick just one.

I have the carbonlite, everyone at my bps (employees) seem to favor the jm signature series. A lot of reviews on bps say the carbonlite is making a lot of gear noise. I haven't run into that and I've used it pretty heavily. I like lightweight stuff (I also have an mgx) so the carbonlite is a hell of a deal.

I've only handled two of the new Carbonlites, but both of them were very rough feeling. The Sig. Series is an older, proven design with a good track record. They're quite a bit heavier than the Carbonlite, but every one I've handled has been butter-smooth.

I have 2 of the Signatures and like then alot. Much smoother than the carbonlites and I think the overall fit and finish is much better. Played with the carbonlites quite a bit and just couldn't get past the sloppy and rough feel of the reel. In my opinion the signatures are a great reel for the money my only concern is how long they last. I have heard they have an issue with the clutch breaking so I guess time will tell. As for now I'm happy, I have a couple of the new chronarchs and the signatures feel very similer to me and I think that says alot

I have fished both of them and both are very nice reels. The Carbonlite is much lighter and is very smooth and has a very nice drag and is comfortable to fish all day long. The Signature series is a little smoother and has a very nice drag as well but it is heavier and has a bigger frame size and to me is not as comfortable to fish all day long.
