Wouldn't do anything except replace the bushings in the level wind with bearings and add Daiwa cork knobs and a graphite handle.

Line Suggestions
I would go with Yo-Zuri Hybrid. Probably 8 lbs for the spinning and 12 lbs for the bait caster.

Swim Jig Basics?
I have used white, sexy shad, black and blue etc... In those conditions with great success. As far as retrieve speed that will vary. But I use a 7.3:1 reel and usually keep a nice steady retrieve. For hook set no need to cross their eyes. Subtle turn of the hips and that usually does the trick for me. They will hook their selves most of the time.

$150 Or Under Rod Selection
If only looking a BPS i would look at the Shimano Crucial and even look at the BPS Johnny Morris signature series rods. The Duckett rod would be a great choice also.

Best Knot For Fluoro
I always use the Plaomar and have not had problems with this knot and fluorocarbon. But I do make sure that i really moisten it up before tightening it and I do retie after every 3 to 4 fish.
-
Bps Fluoro Xps
The BPS fluorocarbon is a great line especially when it is on sale. It is a little less manageable then some other brands but nothing a little KVD L&L can't help with.

Line Conditioner
KVD Line and Lure Conditioner....can not go wrong with this product. Works great on every type of line and on bait casters and spinning reels.

-
Seager Invinz???
Seaguar InvizX is one of my favorite lines. Have it on my bait casters and spinning reels. Very low memory and abrasion resistant.
-
Line Test On Baitcasters????
I use either 10 or 12lbs fluorocarbon line on the majority of my bait casting reels.
-
Swim Jigs
I would use a 1/4 or 5/16oz swim jig in white or a sexy shad color and you could also use a black and blue or a Okeechobee color. For trailers I would recommend a Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper for a trailer. For line I prefer 10lbs fluorocarbon.
-
Northstar Swim Jig
I use 5/16oz pretty much all year and baiscally use white or black and blue all year as well. I will down size trailer size as the water cools down though.
-
Swim Jig Trailers
I really like Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper, Berkley Subwoofer and Kinami 4 inch single tail grubs as well.
-
Swim Jig
White 5/16oz with a white Reaction Innovations skinny dipper trailer.
