I've been using the KVD line conditioner for several years now and have been a big fan. I noticed BPS has come out with their own brand...cheaper and you get more. So I took a flier and tried it last weekend. Felt much thicker and certainly a bit greasy which is not the case with the KVD brand. After trying it I'm not a fan of the BPS brand (I'll continue to pay a bit more for the KVD brand).....just an FYI for what it's worth.

I agree with KVD spray being good, I have always used it and it does make a difference.

I have never used BPS spray and thanks to your tip, I never will.

Thanks for sharing your findings.  I just bought some of the KVD brand and have been thinking about how to apply it as I spool up 3 new reels (1 spinning and 2 baitcast).

Can you share your application method?  Maybe it is on the bottle but I have not read it yet.

TIA

I spray some on a cloth and let the line run thru it as I spool it on the reel. I also spray the line already on the reel before each outing. (it's OK if it gets on the reel)

When spooling a reel with fresh line I make x amount of turns with the handle and spray l&l. Then just continue that process until it's full of new line. Then spray it down the night before I go fishing.

I spray the line while its still on its spool, then I spool the reel and spray the line again 2-3 times while spooling.

dont pay $8 for 4oz of KVDLL when you can get a gallon for $65 at TW.

I love the stuff so I buy by the gallon, MUCH cheaper...... if you cant use that much you can get in with friends and split it. I just but a spray bottle at the dollar store and pour it in a quart at a time. A gallon lasts me about a year.

Seems like every time a product comes out that actually does what its supposed to do, someone, somewhere

tries to sell thier brand and market it as it's just as good but cheaper.

But it never is....

Wonder Bread....Store brand white bread

Ice cream cone....The Drumstick

Sugar cone....Waffle cone

Dude, seriously?  A gallon in a year!  You need to invest in a pump sprayer if you're using that much LOL.

You should have seen how "Liberally" he uses it when spooling a new reel.

Oh, man, Little Debbie Nutty Bars are the best. I read a product review on KVD line conditioner and it was given pretty high marks. Did not know that you could buy it by the gallon. So this stuff has absolutely no build up when you use a lot of it? Sounds almost to good to be true.

The man is serious about his line conditioner.

This includes a rather aggressive application process.

I know this thread is about line conditioner but had any one considered purchasing a conditioned line straight from the manufacturer? McCoy mean green. It's infused with silicone from the factory. Copolymer.

I was dead set against ever using FC line after trying three different brands until I applied line conditioner the first time.  Now it gets sprayed on all my reels spooled with mono or FC before every outing.

Thanks for the head's up on BPS's version.

Just fill a shot glass full of the KVD stuff and dunk your spool in it, bearing side up, and leave it to soak, haha! All I do is spool my reels like normal and then spray down the filled spool from three different points until it's well saturated, even dripping. It leaves no residue. I even put it on a cotton swab and rub the rod line guides with it. This cleans the guides of crud build up from pond scum, and also seems to slick up the surfaces. I get nice, long, fluid casts. The only other line treatment I've tried was Reel Magic, which was like putting olive oil on the line. Nasty! KVD spray is the best!

Within 15 miles I have a BPS, Cabelas, Gander mountain and 2 tackle shops and not 1 carried KVD. Finally ordered some and WOW, great

Waffle cone and the drum stick are so much better than a regular cone/sugar cone

However I set up all my reels with line last week so when should u spray this on my line?

I'm not going to be fishing for another one to two weeks waiting for the ice to melt

Any advice would be appreciated
