Strike King Tour Grade Shakey Heads

Just curious as to who else likes these, I picked some up last season, and to my surprise loved them, so much so I ditched my spot removers, and tru tungsten "Ike heads". I have and use both the round and football head, the hook is not the most "finesse" hook, but I have no trouble getting bit with them, and they are far more durable than the other two heads I used, plus fish just DO NOT seem to come unbuttoned on these heads. The 1/4 oz. football head rigged with a 5" Green pumpkin Berkley shakey worm dragged slowly on the deep weed edge in 14 fow last fall was deadly.

Just about any shakey head is better then an Ikey Head. ;D

Where you having issues with keeping fish on with the Spot Remover? Pro or Peg?

I love 'em. Great quality, great hook.

If you prefer them with the screw on type holder, check out ***'s line. Just got some and they look great.

Yeah IMHO Ikey heads sucked, not worth it at all, and even though I have seen and use tungsten worm weights, I felt ZERO advantage in having tungsten shakey heads. I fish shakey heads in the weeds alot and thought the "weed wacker" Ikey head would come through them better, well it was a joke.

As for the spot removers, I used both the Pro, and the standard, baits flew off the standard like they were going out of style, and it was a constant fight to keep anything on that peg, even with a dab of glue. The Pro modle was better, but I didn't care for the angle of the hook point to the line tie, to the worm, it seemed like I missed alot of fish on them. They really didn't seem to excell in weeds like I fish either, and unless the landed just right on a flat bottom rolled over and didn't stand up till I moved it again ,and I never felt confident or sure of what was going on down there. They do have a place,I liked putting a pink trick owrm onthem and shaking it in a bed, the way it stood up there worked very good.

It seems that when I switched to the strike king heads my hook up pergentage went WAY up, the number of bites I got went up, the number of fish I caught went way up. my baits lasted longer on that head, and I generaly did much better with them.

WW, how weedless are those Tour Grades. All my home lakes and ponds have milfoil or elodea. It seems only bullet shaped noses have worked for me.

Thanks, Hookset on 3

Maybe in grass but the spot remover is a bad @ss fish catcher in my opinion. There is no doubt in my mind that on lanier the head out fishes a round head. The strike kings are pretty good but the Bite Me round head is hard to beat. When KVD said it was the best head out there he wasn't lying and he is sponsored by you know who.

Try calling buckeye and ordering the pro with a larger light wire hook.... I have found they will make whatever you want.

I havent tried the TG Shaky Heads but if they are even close to same quality as the Tour Grade Football jig, I'd gladly use 'em. The Football jigs are awesome.

Must be I am the only one to post about these heads in the last year  :) But one year later, I still feel the same, they are my main jig head. A few things I do,I buy the unpainted ones, you get 4 to pack for the same price as 3 painted ones, and I powder coat them black or green myself, the only colors I need, the 1/8 round w/ a zoom finesee worm is a very potent combo in shallow clear water, and the 3/8 footbal w/ a Lake Fork craw is pretty good dragged along the deep weed edge, there are days when it out performs the tube on the Smallmouth.

They are not as weedless as a t-rig, or a bullet shaped jig head but the round one comes through moderate milfoil and eelgrass just fine, the football head is best kept out of the weeds.

I tried the bite-me ones this past season.......not much different, both the SK and Bite-me use 60 degree flat eye hooks, both come 4 to pack, both come in the same sizes, the SK uses a bit heavier wire hook, and tplastics seem to stay "on" the SK better. I saw no reason to change.

I'm going to have to try them. I really like the Strike King finesse worm (trick worm) made from ElaZtech.

Problem is they are so soft, they are impossible to screw onto a screwloc
