I am new to fishing... gotta pond at one of my parents house, but the fishing isn't all too good. I am better at saltwater fishing, but want to try my hand at bass fishing since i live inland. Need to know what #line to use, and weight. I like heavier weight because i am accustomed to it from saltwater angling and like to cast with it (if this is the wrong forum for these questions just tell me) and if someone would tell a good rod/reel combo that is cheap and beginner friendly i would be jazzed.

abu garica has some decent baitcaster combos. weight depends on what you are fishing with. line i use 10 to 12lb test. fishing cover as in stumps, brush piles etc i use 30 to 60lb braided line. what are you gonna fish with? would be able to tell you what ya would need as well as the others. welcome to the forums.

but also i might add. you are gonna get alot of different answers to your question bc everyone uses what they feel comfortable with!

30 to 60lb line? thats pretty heavy line, I used that down at a pier this past week on a saltwater rod... unless you're talking about something different lol.

the bass here i've found don't really bite live worms such as nightworms, but they seem to like plastic worms. as for rod and reel i have no godly idea what rod or reel it is, it looks pretty dinky. i'm hoping to buy a new rod and reel here soon.

_{30-60lb line is for fishing tree, stumps, brush piles and etc. that way your line doesnt pop. just something alot of people use when you fish heavy cover. how much are you looking to spend on a new rod and reel? do you know how to throw a baitcaster or were you thinking about a spinning rod?}

_{yea ***htworms work for bass but its not a 1st choice bait i would use to catch them. you also have alot of other fish that will get to the ***htworms before the bass. your best bet on bass would be plastic worms and lizards with a 1/4oz weighted hook or bullet lead. you can also use spinnerbaits, crankbaits and jigs. by picking out what you want to fish with also remember to buy the color that matches the water tint. what color water are you fishing in? dark or light?}
