Help On Corrosion?

Featured Replies

Hi I was wondering if anyone new how to get corrosion off of a reel. I heard that you can put it in a glass full of vinegar but i thought that would ruin the paint or something. If you could help me that would be great!

Never mind.

I think a glass of vinegar would ruin alot more then the paint.. Stick a nail in vinegar over night and see what happens..

Well I don't know what to do. And I can't seem to get any answers lol. Thanks for answering though.

What about CLR and a Q tip?

We used a scrub and it didn't work haha.

Try a little toothpaste on a toothbrush.

Reel refinishers use an ultrasonic cleaner. Maybe you could try naval jelly?

CLR is the best corrosion and rust remover I've found. If a reel is corroded it needs to be broken down anyway so the plastic isn't a concern. Silicone sprays (WD40 etc) can help somewhat for light jobs.
