Curado 50E Makes Squeaking Noise

Featured Replies

Hi I have a curado 50e and it started making a really bad squeaking noise every time I reel. Is there something I can do for a quick fix or will I need to get the reel serviced? Keep in mind I've never opened up a bait caster and have no idea where to apply lube. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can do it yourself by following the schematics and being very carefull to place the parts on a towel the way you took them off and follow manufacturers suggestions. Or you can send it to DVT.

Send it to a pro, the squeaking could be dry gears which need grease or it could be a bad bearing, either way if you don't feel comfortable trying it yourself, send it to someone who knows, that reel is well worth a few dollars to keep it going.

Follow the instructions on page 1 only before doing anything else: http://fish.shimano....s (2 pages).pdf

JF could it be...

The bearing at the base of the crank shaft, or the bearings/post in the paddles. ... :Victory:

Tight Lines! :fishing1:

Well, hit the stuff on that page first. Then if it still squeaks, look at that stuff.
