Dont You Love That Feeling When..

Featured Replies

you walk up near someone who is already fishing and hook up with a big bass? lol

So I went fishing for the 4th of july (told my gf I had to work for a few hours, I know thats bad, but I already felt guilty and confessed lol) and had a great day. I was fishing from the shore and noticed a few guys who for some reason just rubbed me the wrong way, just the yelling combined with the usage of live bait (live bait has its moments but not all the time) and I could tell they were watching my every move. So as I was getting closer I saw a log running parallel to the shoreline with some brush at the end. Of course the other people were casting as far out as the could and also were throwing nets. So I just made a short flip cast and thought I felt tug so I set the hook and missed...d**n...however the cracking of my 7'2'' Shimano Cumara and the snap of the 30lb braid caught everyones attention. I quickly flipped out again to the same spot thinking man, wouldnt it be nice to catch one now with everyone looking? and SLAM on the fall a solid 4.5lber completely inhaled my custom jig paired with the rage craw (thank you Rage!!)

Now keep in mind im not the kind to brag or boast especially when im fishing because we all know religious or not fishing has its own way of humbling the angler, but sometimes its nice to show off just a little bit :angel500:

I feel like KVD whenever I do that, haha.

I used to until last week. I had been fishing this area all day not a single bite. Used just about everything. OK Bass Hunter walks up, casts a trick worm and bam!!! 21 sogeye.

Had this same experience last week. Was out on my boat fishing. Pulled up to my honey hole and another bass boat was already on it. So I putted around and decided to try a different spot where I had marked some fish. Was using a carolina rig and a lizard. After being there for about 15 min the other boat pulled up parallel to me and started making some casts. I made a few casts, tap tap, wham!!! 4.5 lb smallie in the boat. After that those guys kept shadowing me and watching what I was doing. Last year I was on the opposite side of things. I was sitting anchored in my spot and getting nothing. Boat pulls up and within 15 minutes they pull in 2 nice fish. It's always nice when you are on the "catching" side of things and not the "watching."

I love that feeling but it drives me crazy when you do that and next thing you know you have someone elbowing in on you. That happens and I have to break out my around-the-world cast :respect-059:

I'll do that to my fishing buddy, George, sometimes. He's quite impatient so after 2 or 3 cast to a spot he will move to another. I go to his spot with the same lure and catch one. Or, sometimes he assumes that if he misses a bass then he won't be able to get him again. I'll go back after it and land it. He gets irritated and I know that it sounds mean, but I'm trying to show him that some times you have be a little more "stubborn".

Bluebasser, I have yet to be able to do the around the world casts. You're talking about the one that KVD does in "Pitching to Heavy Hitters", right? I can't seem to get the swing of it (pun intended).

I'm pretty sure I know the cast you're talking about and I can do that one too but I'm talking about a "give me some elbow room, above my head and 360 degrees around my perimeter, going to hit you in the side of the head with my bait if you're within 10 feet of me" around the world cast. It's a good way to really launch a bait, and make it obvious that getting too close to you could be hazardous to your health. :eyebrows:

WTG and when that happens... You can just say "School is in Session" ;)

If you need to get it that far I suggest some bottle rockets!

LOL! Wouldn't want to be a victim of that (I usually keep a 10-15' distance anyway), but I know some I would like to see that happen to.

You can never casts some baits too far, like deep running cranks.
