Kinked soft plastics

Featured Replies

So as I've been going through some of my gear to hopefully go fishing tomorrow morning I've noticed that some of my plastics have minor kinks in them.  Like the tails on swim senkos, tails on zoom speed worms, etc etc.  I know it's from the way I store my bags more than likely, but I was wondering if you all have a way to straighten them back out somewhat.  I'd guess probably a lighter to soften the plastic a bit, but I'm not really sure.  Let me know what you all think.

Try dipping them into some really hot water until they straighten out.. ;)

Put each one in hot water for about 30-seconds and then lay each out straight.  ;)

Wow, this is weird.  I was about to post the EXACT same thing.

;)

Problem solved..just send them to me I have a plastic worm de-kinker , it'll straighten em right out.

I r mind reader...

And thanks guys, the stupidly hot water worked just fine....I wonder if I can add some scent to plastics like this when I need to straighten them out...

Just thought about something else...  Try adding some oil to the bags of the soft plastics and see if that doesn't help any.  I won't fix the kincks that are already there but it should keep them from coming back after you already treated them in the boiling water.

To keep my plastic's soft..I smear em with MegaStrike..then put em in a zip lok baggie.. ;)

Just toss them...I'm sure you will be picking up more than enough new stuff in the spring fishing sales!!
