50E Spool Sliding?

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I have a 50E and lately when I disengage the spool for a cast it will slap, or slide along the shaft during the cast. What I mean is, the shaft and spool assembly will slide back and forth in and out of the reel (along the long-axis of the shaft) about say 1/8". Makes a pretty good noise, when I used my 200E7 today and the spool did not seem to have that issue. Has anyone else come into that problem?

Thanks in advance,

Wdy

Sounds like the cast control knob is to loose, allowing for movement of the spool.

If your spool tension knob is set properly, it sounds to me like your spool shims are shot. If that's the case, you'll need to replace the shims; you may be able to find a retailer that carries parts, but your best bet is probably to contact the company for purchasing parts.

As stated you have your Cast Control Cap to lose.

Proper setting for the cap is:

Start Point... "No Latrial Play in free spool mode"

then only tightning from their.... :Victory:

Good Luck & Tight Lines! :fishing1:

I will verify that, but I am pretty careful about loosening and tightening that back up before I go fishing. IT only took me 5 nasty-backlashes to learn, "Check your cast control before fishing."

Thanks for the suggestions guys!
