i saw this mentioned in the "cork repair" thread...

i see where a couple of you recommend it...so i'm guessing it is good to use on all cork handles??

all my rods are cork..just a preference....i'd like to "preserve" them..and had never heard of the U40 stuff....

please give some feedback if you use it..

also, i see some on EBay...would you think it is ok to buy from there....or buy from a rod builder's website?

When coating a used rod, use a magic eraser to clean the cork before applying!

Pretty sure Mudhole sells it. Cabelas does, or used to. Jann's Netcraft might as well. I'd buy from them before ebaying it. You don't want to risk getting some old, or fake product to use on your nice expensive rods do you?

I was thinking about getting some, too. How often do you guys use it on your rod handles?

I only apply it once! Cork will absorb the first time you coat it. It will seal those cork pores.

is that the Mr. Clean magic eraser you are referring to?? do you use it wet or dry?? won't that leave "soap" in the cork???

Mr Clean magic eraser use it wet and just rub away the stain in the cork. It does not leave a soapy sud, I don't think it has soap on it.

Just follow the instructions on the Magic Eraser package. Just a little water, squeeze the excess out, and you're good to go. Best tool there is for cleaning the cork on a rod. Hands down.

I usually sand, refill, and reseal my grips every year, but here's one that hasn't been touched up since I sealed it new, two years ago. It sits out on my deck most days, so it gets a lot of exposure to the elements.
