Mystery Tackel Box

Featured Replies

I did a quick search on this site for threads about mysterytacklebox.com but came up short.

Has anyone on here ever tried this service? What was the experience like? Worth the money?

I always worry about things like, "Mystery Bags"

Sure, one out of every 100 or so will get something nice, but the other 99 bags are usually full of crap.

They're in it to make money, not to give you a superb mystery deal.

No one has tried the service yet, August will be the first box shipped out.

Seeing as they were at ICAST and were just written about on the Techcrunch website, they are for real and not some fly by night outfit.

They had also made comments that each box will have a selection of hard baits as well as soft baits and sometimes terminal tackle. The idea is to put something that works in the hands of anglers and for many, remove questions of what works and what doesn't. I think it will be great for beginners and more experienced anglers as well.

hmmm it seems like a neat concept I may try it out idk though if I do it wont be till winter when I'm home so I can see what comes in the box rather then do it for months to find out its not worth it.

I agree that usually "mystery bags" and "grab bags" may not sound very good. But it seems like, in this case, it's not a bad thing. I remember when I was a kid my dad would take us to a local auction and buy these grab bags for $1. They usually had some cheesy or cheap toys in them, but there was always 1-2 really good ones in there. The retail price of the 2 would more than pay for the $1. It's the allure of christmas and birthday presents, not knowing what you're going to get.

Brilliant. I want stock in that company.

Fishermen would be suckers for a box of baits that shows up every month with new stuff to try out, especially if it ends up quality stuff.
