Some Help Before Tomorrow Night.

Featured Replies

What are come good combos that are 145 and under maybe 150. I saw the quantum cod combo for 140 I think, is that a nice one for my second baitcaster? Please some replys before tomorrow before 5:30 would be great. I'm not trying to make it to where people dont want to look at my post by saying help, but I do need it.

Better off putting your own rod and reel together, and up your limit to $200. A decent reel is going to run you $100-150, and a decent rod from $60-$120.

Yeah, stay away from combos, most of them are pairings of inexpensive rods and reels that won't very long for an avid angler. I think your best bet is to save up and for $250 dollars you can get a quality reel along with a good rod that will not only last but will perform better also.

Well I'm going to go ahead and get the bass pro shops extreme rod and real. I know you guys buy the high end stuff but the post said 150 or less. No need for other people to comment. Glen can you end this thread?

dont know about rod, but extreme reel is great, i have about a 2 year old one, and can cast the lightes stuff, i can get booyah micro magic stuff and quarter ounce swimjigs a mile. one of my favorite cheaper reels

Yeah My dad has had the extreme ultralight for 6 or 7 years. The only this wrong with it is he shut it in the car door and the tip broke off but the rod feels great. He put a penn on it and has had it for the same time. From the reviews it seems great. All i'm doing is fishing every night from the banks, and from a 15'3 B60 Riverhawk on the weekends. It's not like i'm reeling in sharks every night. But the occasional 10 pound catfish a couple times out of the week. So does the extreme reel feel good? Like does it feel light? Thank you for answering.

i have a 6.4 i use for a lil bit of everything but mainly cranking and big 10 in worms at night, it feels good to me, it not the lightest, the next best bps reel is the pro qualifer and it is lighter, i fish mainly from the shore too, i have fished it all day pond hoping and never really got tired doning it, i mean i have a few high end reels and the feel better but in the end, unless it is one of my catfish reels, all reels feel fine to me. so all that to say i think you will be extemely happy with your purchase. IF you havnt purchesed it yet, another descent combo is the bps PQ and a shimano sellus, probably run you 160.. either way extreme is a nice to me.

Do you think this might be good? The most I will have is 160, so i'm am trying to get something to where I can still get some baits and lures.

either on is good man, the extreme setup or the PQ with the sellus, to me the Sellus is probably the best rod under 100 bucks

C'mon guys, the OP is asking for advice on a $150 rod & reel.

Let's stick with that.

I have no experience with either one of these, but if I were to buy a $150 combo, it would be a clearance Revo S ($109) or Pro Q ($99) and a Shimano sellus for $49.

I thought that is what we were doing?

I can speak on behalf of the Sellus. Great rod, good sensitivity, and strong. I will put up a vote for it.
