Finally bought my first boat! It's a 95 16.8 almucraft with a johnson 40 on it. It hasn't been used much and kept in a barn with a cover on it. The trolling motor will need updated soon. Get the registration done and its water time!

Check the wires to make sure mice have not eaten the insulation off of them. You don't want it to keep tripping the circuit breaker or to catch on fire from electrical shorts.

The boat looks in good shape and the trolling motor is one of the best ones ever made-it has 56# of thrust on high 24V setting.

The owner had it rewired last year. He said the rats had chewed some of the wires. So he had all of it redone.

Thanks! Probably won't upgrade boat for a while. Big bassboats are to high. This will do what I want it to do. May a different motor in a few years.

I took the Alabama boaters test when they first made it a law. I have operated plenty of boats in the past. Just never owned one.

Congrats I got a similar duracraft last year mine is a good bit older though. I upgraded the fish finder and trolling motor on it and have been enjoying it since; in the process of putting hydroturf now. It's been great don't know why I waited so long to get one.

I have a 1990 MV16 Angler which is pretty much the same hull. I am really impressed with the ride and solid feel of this boat over many other Aluminum bass boats I've owned in the past including other Alumicrafts. I hope to keep my current one until I die! These boats will last forever if taken care of with maybe a repower at some point and a little upgrading as time goes by. Enjoy your new ride. My boat runs 34 mph top with a 50 hp Johnson and stainless prop so I imagine you should get high upper 20's with that 40.

Thanks! Mine is a Mv Maverick it's 16.8'. Think I got it to 25 mph. It was a smooth ride. Its got a 15 pitch aluminum prop. It needs a good card cleaning and fresh gas. It wouldn't idle long and hard to restart. Was wondering if a jackplate would help any. I planning on keeping it for a while too!

These boats won't respond to a jack plate or tilt-trim like their big brother fiberglass boats do. Just use the T/T if you have it or if not set the trim pin in whatever position works best and forget about it. I believe that boat is rated for 60hp (?) so use the 40 and upgrade after it dies!!

Mine does have T/T. I think it is rated for a 60. My plans was to use the 40 till it quits. Then a 60! My 40 has a auto oiling system. I have heard bad things about them. Anything I should look out for?

My boat has a 50 that the oiling system has been disabled and now you just mix the gas and oil the old fashion way. I believe there is a alarm if the system quits on you. My 1993 200hp Johnson did for sure. My 50 (1998) has warning lights and a buzzer.
