Sellus Or Convergence

Featured Replies

Sellus or Convergence Casting rods? y whole arsenal will probably be made up of one of these rods b/c they are technique specific and seem to be the best for the money. Also does anyone have the sellus cranking rod. For just a little more i could get the powell diesel fiberglass cranking rod.

I have the Sellus Worm/Jig rod, and it's a very good rod for the money. Another good rod for the $$ is the Tech-Spec rods found at Dick's sporting Goods. You can get them for around $49.00

Just read your other post..... The Lightning Shock is a fantastic rod for $39.00 at Walmart. I have all three.... Sellus, Tech-Spec and Lightning Shock. If I had to keep just one it would be the Lightning Shock 7'MH great rod.

For the worm and jig rod(sellus) should i stick strictly to worm and jigs or is that good for anything else. \

I use mine for just about everything. It makes a good frog rod too, plenty of backbone. Having said that, I would still go with the 7'MH Lighting Shock. Don't get me wrong, the Sellus is a great rod but the Shock rod does everything really well and it's tough as nails. I have about 15 rods and reels and the Shock rod with my Citica is the one I grab 9 out of 10 times.

I love the Sellus rod, and I also like the Shock rod. I used to use the Shocks primarily, but I feel more comfortable with the Sellus. Plus it looks good with a Shimano reel on it. Seriously, I think the Sellus is better technique specific wise, and sensitivity is a little better.

sellus all the way, best rod under 100, have the 6'8 for spinnerbaits

Convergence in my opinion. It will run you about $15 more, but it has the lifetime warranty and the sellus does not. I know it's not a $300 rod to replace, but for the small difference in price I would go with the convergence. I have a 7' medium weight moderate action convergence for cranking, and it is awesome. If it ever breaks, I go to my local shimano dealer, give him the rod and he hands me a brand new one, no questions asked. Between the rods performance and the warranty, it was a no brainer for me, but that is just my opinion and what suited me.

\Picked up the Sellus today(worm and jig). Feels great and light can't wait to use it. I know I'm goinng to love it.

Also Ill be throwing texas rigs on it so what kind of line should i use. 17lb fluoro or should i put braid on it. NOOB questions lol.

What I'm trying to get at is what would be the ideal setup for this rod. (line, lures, weight, and where to fish it at...) Thanks.

You can use either or. If your going to use it in heavy cover, than go ahead and spool it with braid. If not, than fluoro will be fine. I have both type setups with 2 rigs.

X2..... Personally, I've switched over to braid on all my setups, and I'm happy so far. When throwing worms I use a fluro or mono leader tied to the braid with an Alberto knot. Throwing frogs or in very heavy cover, I tie direct.

I throw weightless Senko's rigged Texas style, frogs, jigs and pretty much anything and it works very well. I feel you have a great all-around rod that will cover all of what you are looking to accomplish and more. Let use know how you like it.

If I put braid on it can i just double it as my flippin rod. I think a 7'6'' would be way to long since im pretty short. I got the medium heavy, extra fast. And it's rated 1/4 to 1 oz, so I don't see why I couldn't.

Or should I just use this for TR and football jigs and stuff then get the flippin for heavy cover.
