Braided Vs. Monofilament Line

Featured Replies

Hey Everyone, I was wondering if braided line was just as smooth as monofilament line. If it is what is your favorite brand of braided line?

NOTHING about braid is smooth! It's great stuff when you need it though. I like the Neon? 50# 832.

What do you mean by smooth? Smooth to cast? I find it to be. I use power pro 30-50lbs depending on application.

Power Pro or Suffix 832 are among the best. I like 30-50# for most applications.

Spiderwire Stealth, and Power Pro. I like the Stealth for my 65# because its 12# dia. Power Pro for my 40#.

I mainly use PP, Fins if available, and have tried many others. I use 10-15-20# only, I'm fish pretty much moving baits only and I look for the one on sale. I haven't found enough difference to get that choosy.

Power Pro, Spiderwire, and all that stuff is like a bandsaw, far from smooth. But then again, no braid is mono smooth. The smoothest braided lines out there are Sufix 832, Power Pro Super Slick 8, Daiwa Samurai, and a few others I cant think of ATM.

However, for the smoothest superlines, look for fused superlines as apposed to braided. Look at Original Fireline and Sufix Performance fuse.

Thanks everyone, I'm going to try the Sufix 832 I think.
