rage tail frog

Featured Replies

ne1 swear by the rage tail frog?  what about the coffee scented ones?  does coffee scent reeeeally get more strikes?  i love the lifelike appearance and cant wait to see that first explosion this spring!

Last year, I fished the RT Frogs and Shads quite a bit. I'm not sure the coffee scent brought more strikes. I like the RT Shad a lot better. I think over lily pads or grass, they both have close to the same great action. The frogs (like most) have a tendency to roll over. Both baits can't hold up to too many strikes/hits. I try to buy them when they are on sale because I don't think they are worth $5.99 for recreational bassin'.

I have caught at least 200 bass over the last two years on the Rage Tail Toads. I have some toads that only lasted one fish and others that lasted multiple fish. I don't know if I have noticed a difference in the coffee scent yet or not, the jury is still out on that. I think the action is what drives those bass crazy, they can't stand it and they slam the toads as a result.

yah, their great baits move a lot of water around, the legs tear after a while though. its between them and the horney toad in my opinion for a good toad bait.

Fantastic bait, best toad on the market in my opinion.

It destroys the Horney Toad because when you buy a pack of Horney Toads some of the legs are bent (especially if the package is really old and it has been sitting on the shelf awhile) and you don't get a good action out of the ones with bent legs; so right from the get go you are reduced down to like 4-5 baits.

Since the Rage toads come in the hard plastic casing this never happens and you've got perfect action everytime.

yeah this is a sick bait. i normally fish a ribbit on calm waters, but on a day with a bit more chop on the surface, rage frogs make some racket. BUT, i just learned you can snip a bit off the legs to tone down the action so i can fish calmer water with them also. i like em cause i can really chunk these a good distance farther than a ribbit. as far as bass likeing the coffee scent, i think they definately hold on a bit longer. i like to wait till i see the line move after the explosion before i set the hook so that extra bit of time is key. rage products are not...i repeat, not a gimmick

Not only swear by them, but have two rod/reel combos just dedicated to them alone.

We were on a fishing trip and the only thing we were catching them on was Rage Toads. Couldnt catch a fish on a ribbit or a horny toad. I had a problem with them flipping over, but i saw a video and as long as you use the right hook and make sure it is completely horizontal, it will do just fine.

Any of the rage tail line of plastics are hard to beat! I used the rage frog quite a bit last year. I have heard a lot of people use the rage shad for the same application with better success. Might be something to look into.

I can swear by Rage toads, I put alot of fish in my livewell, during Tourneys using the toad and shad. Buy a pack, you won't be sorry you did.

Nice rigs Shane.

u could use gamy superline hook 5/0 or owner twistlock 6/0 i use owner most because it reduces tearing the nose and give me like 2-3 more uses out of it

Hey Revo,

As long as you follow those hooking instructions that Rondef posted or make sure it is hooked identical to the lower RT Toad Shane posted in his photo, your Toad won't roll over onto its back at all. If it lands on it's back on the cast, just pause and it will right itself

Hope that helps
