Need New Line Mono Vs Fluoro

Featured Replies

I'm out of town. I was on eBay and found I have eBay bucks expiring soon so I need new line anyway. I Trued searching the sticky on my iPhone could not find much. I have Tryed fluorocarbon berkley friend 100 %. I have been told that fluoro is literally a must have. Is there really much of a difference between fluoro and mono? Besides the stretch does one have a blogger advantage over ther other, and what brand and # test is the best too many too choose from and I hear there are a lot of bad brands out there. Thanks

Try Yozuri.

I keep reading posts that say fluorocarbon has no, or very little, stretch compared to mono. However, that is not what I gathered from testing done by TT. So far I have only used one brand of fluoro...10# Spiderwire Ultracast 100% Fluorocarbon...and I can tell you for a fact it has stretch similar to what I am use to with mono.

Slap, I use both the green and the purple smoke. It depends on your water color and clarity

Yozuri is a great line in any color.

Florocarbon is more abrasion resistant and does have less stretch. It is a denser line than mono therefore it transfers vibrations better than mono. I was skeptical at first, but I now only have mono on my 3 cranking rods and floro on about 10 rods. Lower lb test floro has more stretch than higher lb test. I would also recommend looking at Sunline Sniper florocarbon. Its reasonably priced and performed better for me than Trilene 100% and Invizx.

try seguar invisix. 8lb for spinning and 12lb for baitcast

x2 for seguar invisix. get the 12lb to start. you have to be more careful tying knots so practice. i like fluoro better b/c as stated its stronger, more abrasion resistant, and i love the immediate response for hook sets

LgMouthGambler, do you recommend clear or green in this line?

Either one is good. My 12# is clear, my 20# is green

I would recommend the Yo-Zuri Hybrid as well. Very manageable line and has to be one of the best values out there! I use 12lb on my MH crankbait rod and 8 lb on my M crankbait rod. You won't be disappointed. Flouro can be hard to manage but if you get some KVD line conditioner it can help.
