Hello everyone. I've been lurking (and learning) on this site for many months, and figured it was time to post a little bit.

I'm 36 years old. I was a casual bass fisherman off and on for most of my life, but never really got seriously into it until around April of this year. It's amazing how much better my fishing has become, and how much I've learned just in the past four months.

At the beginning, you're just throwing different baits all over the lake. After a while, you start to learn about where to cast, what baits to use, and how to use them. Now I find myself giving other other people advice on how to fish when only a few shorts months ago I was on the other end.

Here on the east coast of Florida, there are ponds and lakes all over the place. Fishing is a way of relaxation for me, so I like having as much privacy as possible when fishing. In other words, I don't like pressured lakes and am happiest when I'm the only one with a line in the water. Obviously, this isn't possible on the bigger public lakes. Hence, I find myself driving around fishing some of the most obscure ponds out there. And in Florida, trust me when I tell you there are thousands of them, nearly all of them busting with bass. I'm willing to drive into the middle of nowhere and hike a bit to find a nice spot. There's something exciting about trying to find big bass in small bodies of water that no one ever fishes.

Having been stuck on the bank most of the time, I was able to get out on the water a few times with a small inflatable. Recently I purchased a small pontoon, and am looking to finally get it out on the water this weekend. My PB so far is a conservative 4 pounds, 8 ounces (caught in a drainage lake by the freeway) and I'm looking forward to breaking that 5 pound mark here soon.

I started logging my bass in mid June. I've caught 130 bass since then, but 84% of them have been under a pound. That probably has a lot of do with the kind of lakes and ponds I'm fishing in.

At any rate, great site. I've learned an incredible amount in a short time.

Here's a photo of a lovely 3 pound, 13 ounce beauty also caught by the freeway. It's a spot no one fishes but me.
