Swimbait storage...

Featured Replies

I've been thinking of picking up a few larger swimbaits, probably Matts Hard Gill first off.  I'd like to know from those that fish these and other similar baits where and how you store them.  I don't see buying many of these, so my goal is to hopefully find some sort of Plano tray box small enough to store in my BPS XPS bag but large enough to hold several of these baits.  I know Columbia makes some nice swimbait boxes, but not sure if something like the Hardgill would fit, as I think they are more suited towards the Huddleston types.  Having said that, I'm not even sure I they make a box that would be small enough for my bag.  I can loose sleep over this type of crap...it's a sickness I think!   :D

I use a Plano Prolatch Deep Stowaway that I bought at walmart.

i got one of these in a trade, and i must say it is AMAZING. a little pricey, but they work great, for hardbaits(i made my own for softbaits). im considering getting another one since my swimbait collection is growning and dont have room for em all now...

depends on the baits size and how many you have , this is a good box for them http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/descpage-P3730.html you can fit about 10-15 baits in there (a bunch of 4"-6" baits and a few 8" baits (hudds, bbz's, rago's,etc..) btw , instead of a hard tackle box , get a back pack from wal-mart and pick out some plano boxes for your other tackle to fit inside the backpack , you would be suprised how much stuff you can comfortably fit in a backpack  ;D

These looks pretty nifty. I may have to look into a couple of these, as they look pretty ideal for hard swimbaits. Thanks for the link. 8-)

I picked these up from Dicks Sporting. They come three to a bundle and for the price of $9.99, I say they are pretty good. They have removable tabs so that you can customize each compartment to the bait or tackle size you need. I tried looking for them on their website, but can't find them. Here are a couple of pics

Larry, what is the bait in the top left corner that's on top?

Mozy, that is a 4.5" hard H20 swimbait.  I've only thrown it a couple of times, just to check the action on it and it is pretty decent.  I got that, along with the other 4.5" and 3.5" in a kit of six from Academy

I just bought a plastic box from Home Depot for .99 and buy the hook guards and throw them in together. All my swimbaits in one box. And I can see what is there, Saved me alot of $$
