As the title says I've never used plastics before at all, I tried my very first t rig last night and it looked terrible. Gonna have to work on it for sure

My question is, when retrieving do you keep your rod tip high or low? Any sideways jerking motion? Please understand I am a COMPLETE beginner when it comes to plastic so any info would help. Thanks again guys!

The website alone features 100's of articles many being technique specific. Start reading them, they are very informative and will get you a great start to your fishing.

Rod tip high....to feel the bite. Jerking motion?......depends on what kind of plastic but more than likely no. Do some research here. There is millions of threads and articles to pick your brain with for days.

Watch some of the bassresource youtube videos. Sometimes watching videos vs reading articles can help with make sense of things

there are a ton of ways to fish plastics and a ton of plastics to be fished a ton of ways. I would start with the texas rig. Read about it, buy the necessary terminal tackle, learn how to rig it and fish it until you catch some bass. You WILL catch some if you fish it enough. For starters I would buy:

pack of 3/0 EWG worm hooks

pack of 3/16oz bullet weights

pack of 3/8ox bullet weights

pack of 6-8" worms (straight tail or curl tail or both. powerbait & zoom are good brands to check out)

pack of 4" craw baits (rage tails are good, baby brush hog by zoom as well)

More than the baits used, learn WHERE bass live. Where they feed, what they feed on, where they hang out & the different seasonal patterns. Look for places that would probably hold bass in your lake. Dont just cast with no intent. Always be fishing SOMETHING.
