Question For Dvt

how much to supertune my steez, pixy and 3 zillions

my steez and pixy already have bocas and carbontex

Thanks for your inquiry. The full floating spool design of the Daiwas makes traditional SuperTuning of no benefit to them contrary to what some competitors claim. A deep cleaning and flushing of the stock bearings would probably be helpful and is $19.80 for members ($22-10%). I'm a big believer in the Carbontex drags and discount them as well. As for the bearing upgrade, if you have them in other reel and want to add them they are $26.96/pair after discount. FYI - Super Tuning for reels with a solid spool shaft (Quantum, Shimano, Pflueger, BPS, Ambassadeur etc) the cost is $34. Let me know if I can help. Mike

Super Tuning involves polishing of critical friction points that affect free spool. Specifically, spool shaft, spool shaft ends, brass tension spacers, inside of pinion gear.

ok, so do u have website, and how do i pay, through paypal?

My website is www.delawarevalleytackle.com or you can click on one of my banners on this site. Pay Pal is fine. To send a reel please print a work order and include it in the package. To order parts just email what you'd like.

Thanks,

Mike

whats more beneficial new bearings or super tuning and when you do these upgrades do you clean the reel before or do you pay for that seperately

Super Tuning includes a deep cleaning & lube as part of the service. The benefit that can be expected by Tuning, bearings or both depends on the model and condition of the reel. My recommendation is always to start out with a deep cleaning which involves having the bearings flushed and properly lubed. If bearings are bad and need replacing anyway they may as well be upgraded. Older and used reels benefit most from Super Tuning as a rule. Budget, casting skill and desired performance all need to be considered in deciding if Super Tuning and/or bearing upgrades are for you.

So no cleaning and lube for new bearings?

Parts are an extra cost and are installed during a cleaning & lube if they are requested. Since the reel is already stripped there is no extra installation cost. Bearings and drag kits can be ordered individually and installed yourself as well.

Example:

Clean & Lube = $22

Boca Orange Seal Bearings (pair) = $29.95

Return shipping (est. actual is equal to in-bound) = $7

Less BassResource.com discount (10% off after market parts & labor) = -$5.20

Total= $53.75

Not to hijack the treat but DVT is that what I would be looking at to have my Quantum Accurist PT 501 cleaned and upgraded for example?

The Quantums have 3 bearings supporting the spool so the cost there would be another $14.95. I'd have to see the reel to properly evaluate, but based on my experience with quantums Super Tuning for $34 and using the stock bearings properly flushed and lubed would get good results.

I guess super tuning is for BC reels only? can you super tune a shimano spinning reel? and how much would it cost for shimano citica to be tuned? sorry for highjacking your thread.

Spinning reels benefit from regular maintenance which too mant neglect. There is nothing to tune in a spinningreel since no moving parts affect the cast. Super Tuning for any eligible reel is $34 plus parts if any.

I have a shimano scorpion 1000 and a 1500, what upgrades should I do? As of now, they are stock.

Those reels are pretty good casting especially the newer (XT 2010) version. The drag is probably the weakest link. An older version reel with some hours on it might benefit slightly from Tuning, but if they've never been deep cleaned you'd be pleaseantly surprised by the results.

It's not an xt, I wish. Would upgrading the bearings do anything for me? I do know the drag needs an upgrade and the reel needs a good cleaning.

To some degree bearing upgrades fall into an "Enthusiast" category. If you're looking for on the water performance improvement a good cleaning and some polishing is a place to start and I'd spin test bearings and make recommendations at that time.

Thanks and just printed the form so I can get the reel to you and also to have the drag upgraded.
