i have been having real good luck on the river saturdaty mornings with a jitterbug. is there a time now that it is getting cooler in quebec ``:frost in the morning`` that topwater will stop working.

As long as the water temp is above about 50 degrees then you have a chance to catch fish on topwater. I've had good luck with floating minnow type baits in cooler water.

I think people put top water away to soon.

I use them early spring(ice out) till late fall(ice forming).

Although,not as good as a jerk bait,they will hit top waterat times when conditions are right(sunny days can be perfect)

white belly spook anytime day or night and black brokentail jitterbug when its dark anytime of year the water isnt hard, i would agree though under 50 for a water temp and the bite is slow, therefore the retrieve is the slowest ever.
