What's A Good, Cheap Kayak Seat ?

Featured Replies

For a SOT kayak, with good back support. I'd like to keep it under $75 if possible. Thanks.

honestly good and cheap don't really go together as far as kayak seats go.

What type of kayak are you in? I know in my old redfish it came with a pretty crappy seat so instead of dropping big bucks on a nicer seat (i was planning on getting another kayak the next spring) i jsut used one of those foam seat cushions and slid it underneath the seat and it made a world of difference.

I'm probably going to buy the Malibu Mini X, which does not come with a seat.

Was my first thought, as well.

Here are a couple starting points: Austin Kayak, and Appomattox River Co, you can also look at Bass Pro, Dick's, Cabelas, or your local sporting goods store.

Personally, the best seat I've ever used came with my Native, it's the Native First Class seat. Hobie has a nice seat, as does Jackson Kayaks. But these are pricey and likely won't fit your yak.

Thanks Darren. I agree with you about the Native U12's seat, I tested the U12 about a week ago. I know where to look for a seat, but I was hoping for some recommendations.

Don't cut corners when it comes to a seat, your back and bottom will appreciate it. I replaced the stock seat on my Trident with the Gone Fishin seat from Austin Canoe&Kayak. It's the best $127 I ever spent.
