  1. I'm wondering what you guys are using as a lightweight battery, for a trolling motor in your kayak ? My motor is a 40 lb. thrust model. Thanks.
  2. I found out the boat is from 1982. The boat does not have a floor, so it should be easier to see what is going on. Is my best bet having him launch it and see how much water comes in after a short time? Would you guys consider leaking rivets a minor thing ? Assuming the leaks are not from a seam, etc. Thanks for any advice.
  3. Thanks. I'm leaning toward the Mod-V, but if I find a good deal on a flat bottom I may get that.
  4. Thanks Big Angus. I sent you a message.
  5. What is involved in repairing leaky rivets ? Is it an easy job ? There's a 14' Lowe Big Jon on Craigslist and the ad says there are a couple leaky rivets. I don't know the year of the boat, but it looks like an older one. Thanks.
  6. Thanks. For us old farts, is the Mod-V just as stable in calm water, when standing and walking around ? Does it depend on the pitch of the bow ?
  7. It seems like the Mod-V is more versatile because it works well in calm water and small waves, whereas the flat bottom only works well in flat water. Correct ?
  8. Wow ! Was that to buy a new one or a used one ?
  9. Used jon boats don't come up for sale very often in my area. At least not the type I'm looking for.
  10. Thanks. I reserve the right to bother you again later ! ?
  11. Very nice. What model is that ? I think I'd like to get the 20" transom also.
  12. Thanks. At the very least I want to put in a flat floor and a casting deck in front. Is the Mod. V a lot harder to customize, especially adding the floor ?
  13. I'm looking for a 1448 jon boat. Is there much difference in the ride of the 2 ? Is the Mod-V just as stable when walking around, standing, etc. ? I fish mostly smaller lakes, 300 acres or less. If I wind up buying a new one, what are some good budget brands to look at ? Lowe, Alumacraft ? Thanks.
  14. Your type would make more sense if you used periods.
  15. I love my Nucanoe Frontier 12. The 2 main things that sold me on it is the flat transom(ready for a trolling motor or small gas motor) and very versatile seating. I can use any after market seat I want. They also have a high or low seat base.
  16. The Malibu Mini-X is a very nice, stable, lightweight kayak. I had to sell mine because my back couldn't take it anymore.
  17. Very nice. Are those the J-brackets on Amazon for $21 + shipping? Are you happy with the quality of the J-brackets?
  18. You don't think it has enough power to run the bow and stern lights? The bilge pump I almost never use.
