  1. Thanks guys. I tried the Commander 12 and Native U12, and I did not like either. They were too hard for me to get in and out of. I definitely want to stay with a SOT. I'd like to throw 2 more out there for your opinions. 1) Malibu Stealth 12 - 12' long, 33" wide, 60 lbs, 450 lb. capacity. Probably too expensive though. 2) Ocean Prowler 11 - 11' 5" long, 30.5" wide, 54 lbs, capacity 350 - 400 lbs. I'm concerned that it's too narrow for stability. Is it? What does it mean when they give a capacity "range" like this?
  2. Malibu Mini X, Wild. Ride 115. The kayak will be used to fish lakes that are 250 acres or less. Will there be a big difference in tracking and paddling these 2? Both are reported to be very stable, which is important to me. The Mini X is a LOT lighter, which I like, but would I be happier with the Ride 115(comfort, tracking, paddling ease, etc)? I think I will be able to test out the Ride 115, but not the Mini X(dealer way too far). I weigh about 235 lbs. Will the Ride 115 be "slower" because it's 30 lbs. heavier? Thanks for any advice. Mini X - 9 ft. 3" long, 33" wide, 45 lbs. Weight capacity 325 lbs. Is my weight too close to this capacity? Ride 115 - 11 ft. 6", 33" wide, 76 lbs. Weight capacity 500 lbs.
  3. No thank you. I had a Bass Raider and recently sold it.
  4. I sold my Bass Raider, but I used a milk crate for holding my rods and misc. gear. I mounted a piece of 1.25" PVC in each corner with cable ties. Then you can put your Plano boxes in there also.
  5. No. That's just adding too much unnecessary weight. Your best bet is to buy a boat that's wide enough, a floor width of 42" minimum. My floor is 48" wide and super stable.
  6. Actually, when you install a front casting deck the boat is less stable. That's because you're raising the center of gravity. So to do this, you need to have a boat with a wide enough bottom, probably 42" or wider. Check out Tinboats.net, it's a great site for what you want to do.
  7. WOW. 59 views and zero replies. I thought someone would have an opinion.
  8. Thanks Darren. I agree with you about the Native U12's seat, I tested the U12 about a week ago. I know where to look for a seat, but I was hoping for some recommendations.
  9. Is this a good fit for me to fish smaller lakes(less than 250 acres)? I weigh about 235, it's rated for 325 lbs, and take very little gear with me. I like the fact that it's light weight, and can fit in my van, and it's said to be very stable. I cannot try it out because the closest dealer is 160 miles away. Thanks.
  10. I'm probably going to buy the Malibu Mini X, which does not come with a seat.
  11. For a SOT kayak, with good back support. I'd like to keep it under $75 if possible. Thanks.
  12. When I mentioned the negative of the weight, I was mainly thinking of paddling it, not transporting it.
  13. The only negative to the Ride 115 is the weight, 76 lbs.
  14. Thanks Tom. I'm sending you a PM.
  15. Nice. What's the length and width?
  16. Thanks Tom. This is the canoe you have, correct? http://www.dicksspor...4413993.4417832. This is one I'm considering, but I'm wondering about the stability. How would you describe the stability, sitting and standing? I would use a trolling motor with it and trailer it. Is there a bow eye on front to attach to trailer strap? Thanks.
  17. I recently saw this canoe at Dick's, but I didn't like the fact that the bottom was not flat. It's what they call shallow arch, correct? Is there much difference in stability in this hull and a flat hull like the Scanoe at Dick's? Thanks.
  18. This is a large square stern canoe I'm interested in, but I can't find anywhere in the USA selling it. Does anyone have any info on it? Is it only sold in Canada maybe? Thanks
  19. Exactly how is the plate installed? Do you have a pic? Thanks.
  20. I assumed the battery would be bouncing around when towing, and that's not good. There's no way to secure a battery in a canoe is there?
  21. Yes, I do have a Northern Tool near me. I assume when you guys tow your canoes, you don't have your battery in there?
  22. A-Jay, that canoe would be my first choice I think. It's just too expensive, unless I can find one used. What type and size trailer do you use?
  23. Thanks guys. Webertime, I was asking if it's hard to turn my body(canoe stability wise) and tilt motor up and down, with a square stern canoe? Some guys claim it's easier to use a side motor mount on a canoe. I don't know. And putting on stabilizers every time I go out sounds like a real PITA.
