  1. There are 2 reasons. The trailer's always been a little short for the boat, but I've lived with it. But 1) I recently put my trolling motor on the bow, and now I can't raise my tailgate all the way. From the front of boat to trailer ball is only about 2 feet. 2) It will be easier to launch at certain lakes.
  2. Thanks Wayne. That seems to be for a specific brand Sports trailer. I wonder if it's heavy duty enough? Has anyone out there extended your trailer tongue? My second choice would be to replace the whole tongue.
  3. I want to extend my trailer's tongue by 1-2 feet. The tongue is 2" X 3" galvanized, and just under 11' long. Can I safely add on 1-2 feet, or should I replace the whole tongue? It's a tilt trailer, so there is no welding involved. The boat is not real heavy, it's a 16' flat bottom jon, with a 25 hp outboard. Any suggestions? I'd prefer to just add on a piece somehow. Thanks.
  4. Why would you want the seat so high? I just replaced the standard plastic seat with one similiar to your link from Walmart, but I didn't elevate it with a pedestal. I just bolted the pedestal base to the seat frame.
  5. Thanks Wayne. I don't know what you mean by your second sentence. The 561 is not a portable. Why is it more versatile?
  6. I'm down to these 2 depthfinders. Both are 5" screens, 12 level gray scale, and virtually the same price. The Garmin has the better resolution(480 X 320) vs. the 561's(320 X 320). What do you guys think? Thanks.
  7. Thanks Dave. I'm leaning toward the Garmin 200. A few places have it online for $135.
  8. Thanks. I'm leaning toward the Garmin 150 for $99, but I'm considering uping the budget to get the Garmin 200(for 5" screen) for $139 I think. Are the Garmins pretty good, reliable units? They seem to get very good reviews.
  9. Any particular model # ?
  10. Thanks. I thought I'd get more than 1 reply out of 94 looks.
  11. Hopefully $100 maximum. Nothing fancy needed. Mainly for the depth and to find weeds. Thanks
  12. I hate shopping there though. I can never find anyone for help. The store by me must use a skeleton crew. I wish there was a BPS near me.
  13. I use an 8 lb. navy type anchor, and it works well.
  14. That still won't get rid of the non-flat floor. The little elevated pieces of floor bothered me. I recommend you carpet over 1/4" plywood. I used 1/4" luan.
  15. 16' flat bottom jon, speed I don't know(25 hp) battery on floor right behind front deck. And yes, battery will be in a battery box. Thanks.
  16. 44 views and ZERO replies?
  17. I need to secure my battery to 1/2" plywood floor. The problem is where I need to put it, there's no rib to screw into also. Will just screws hold OK in the plywood? Should I use screw eyes or the little hold down pieces that come with the strap? I was thinking of using 2 screw eyes and a rubber strap. Thanks
  18. I did it for the heat, and also the flat floor and carpet is much more comfortable on the feet. I'm normally barefoot in the nice weather. I had some scrap 1/4" luan and it worked out great, and I weigh about 225.
  19. The only thing I added to mine is 1/4" luan plywood for the floor. I doubt it weighs more than 20 lbs.
  20. The U-bolts are already under the seat, holding the plastic seat to the seat frame. You don't need to buy any.
  21. Sorry, but I don't know how to post a pic. Do you want a pic because you can't picture how I did it? It's very simple once you get the old seat off. I used the pedestal base with the 3/4" pin hole design. It bolts to the seat frame with the original u-bolts.
  22. I bet all the common things will work. I fish a sand pit here, and I catch most of the bass with plastic worms. I especially like the Zoom Trick Worm fished wacky style, on a 1/0 weedless hook. A little before sunset I put on the ole Jitterbug.
  23. Looks nice. I just removed the plastic seat it came with, and replaced it with a pedestal base. I bolted the pedestal base to the frame using the original U-bolts that were used with the plastic seats. Worked great. This way I can use the same seats in my other boat also.
