  1. I'm going to buy a new one, a 55 lb transom mount. I tried to order one from Walmart.com, but it won't let me choose between the 36" and 42" shaft. What the hell? And there's no phone # to call anywhere on their website.
  2. Thanks. I called a Minn Kota service center and they told me there's nothing I can do to improve the problem. They also said the motors usually last 8-10 years.
  3. Mine seems to have lost power, and it's not the battery. What can I check? I don't know much about them. It's a Minn Kota, 40 lb. thrust transom model. I think it's about 15 years old.
  4. You can't beat the Jitterbug at night, when the water is pretty calm. What's the name of this quarry? Where is it?
  5. I go home and chase the wife around the house.
  6. I don't see why it's a problem to buy a trailer with expired registration. I assume you mean an expired license plate? Because plates cannot be transfered to you anyway. You have to apply for a new one(if required by your state). Here in WI. we don't have to register a trailer unless it weighs over 3,000 lbs. As far as registering it as home-made, I don't know what that's about. To be sure, you should call your DMV and ask.
  7. Thanks KevO. Do you have an answer to my other questions?
  8. Paris is a town we're thinking of retiring to down the road. How is the fishing in the 2 big lakes(Lake Kentucky and Barkley)? Are there other "smaller" lakes near town to fish? If so, how far from town? Thanks.
  9. It's best to have a front wheel or 4 wheel drive vehicle. The good thing is that boat is pretty lightweight, so it makes it easy to push it off the trailer, if needed. I never back into the water farther than I need to. If I go too far, my tailpipe is in the water. If it won't float off the trailer, push it off the trailer, then pull it aside to a dock or on shore. When you launch, you need to have a rope ready to go, attached to the boat. You'll get the hang of it after a couple launches.
  10. Same here in Wisconsin. I'm thrilled if I catch a 16" bass.
  11. The other one may be a little more stable because the bottom is totally flat. Is this one longer? Did you try them both out for stability and room?
  12. Why would you need a 2X2 angle? The only thing I used was the zip tie. Once I wrapped it around the pump and tightened it down to the brace, it's not going anywhere.
  13. Thank you. I'll have to see if Gander Mtn. or Walmart has these.
  14. I have the 8' Pelican Bass Raider, and it is very stable. The problem you'll have is lack of room, not weight. There's no way I would even consider having a second person in my boat. There's just no room, and I don't bring much with me. That boat is only one foot longer than mine.
  15. Do you have any braces you can mount it to? I used a plastic zip tie, and secured it to a metal cross brace that goes from floor to transom.
  16. What's the proper way to hook the Rage Toad? Does the point of the hook face up or down?
  17. I've never tried these. Do they float if you fish them weightless?
  18. Thanks guys. Paris is a highly recommended retirement town, but I don't know anything about the towns in the east. What eastern towns are you referring to? I'm also looking for as little snow as possible.
  19. Paris is one town we're looking into as far as retiring to. Is bass fishing possible year round, or is there a limited season? Is it too cold to fish in the winter? Are there many lakes to bass fish in the area? Thanks.
  20. I use the Pennzoil synthetic, and buy it at Walmart.
  21. I love my Trion. The arm probably wasn't tightened down.
  22. Do you have the 8' or 10'? I have the 8' and I would never even consider having a second person in it. There's just no room.
  23. We used to do a lot of night musky fishing. You can't believe how it feels when a 40" musky hits right at the boat on a surface lure. You can't see the lure, you just hear it coming on the top. You need to bring extra undies, and you better have a strong heart.
  24. I've never had that problem. Use those muscles and tighten her down.
  25. I don't think bass fishing is addicting at all, really. Musky fishing is VERY addicting though. Once you catch a big musky, that's all you want to fish for. Up until about 5 years ago, musky fishing is all I did. But I can't anymore because of my back. I have to stand to musky fish, and my back won't allow it.
