  1. As long as you don't have to steer, correct?
  2. I normally start fishing about 5 pm and fish until dark
  3. I'll see if my daughter can figure out how to post a pic. I just want to reverse the head on my transom trolling motor, and use it on the front of my square jon. I want to be able to steer it while seated also. Wayne, I'm considering a Big Foot switch, but I don't know if it would really help me much. As I understand it, it just turns the motor on and off. If I have to have my hand on the motor to turn anyway, it doesn't seem like it does much good.
  4. 136 views and ZERO replies? No one has an opinion?
  5. I want to reverse the head on my transom trolling motor, and mount it on the bow of my jon boat, but I'm unsure where to mount it. Wouldn't the motor need to be pretty close to the center of bow in order for me to reach it and steer properly(when seated)? Even if I use an extension handle? I see no problem if I'm standing, but what about whem I'm seated? Thanks for any advice.
  6. Thanks Wayne. Both of those got pretty bad reviews, and the second one is only for a motor up to 35 lb. thrust. I'm only going to do this if my current motor will be long enough to work on the bow. It's shaft is 42". What's the easiest way to figure out if it will be long enough?
  7. I'm trying to find a pic of a good DIY mount to make. I have a Minn Kota transom mount motor(55 lb. thrust) I want to put in front instead. Does anyone have a pic or a link? My boat is a flat jon with a square front. Thanks
  8. If yes, how did you build it? What did you use? I'm thinking of making one, but I want to keep it lightweight. A pic would be great. Thanks.
  9. Well, I got it off. Since I wanted to move my pedestal further back anyway, I decided to re-do my deck now. I just removed the pedestal base and tapped the pin, from the bottom side, with a hammer and a large bolt.
  10. I'm not using marine grade plywood. I'm using CDX plywood. I just want to make sure the above adhesive will adhere to the paint. I want to get it painted/sealed today. HELP !!
  11. I'm re-doing my front casting deck, and I'm wondering which way to seal it before carpeting. The "Roberts" indoor/outdoor carpet adhesive I bought from Home Depot suggests not applying it over paint. Does anyone know if it will work over painted plywood? If not, what should I use to seal plywood? Thanks.
  12. That is what I'd like to avoid. I sure was hoping for more than 1 response.
  13. It depends on the size of your bed. The Bass Raider is 8' long and a little less than 4' wide.
  14. I want to move the pedestal base on my front deck back as far as possible, to allow more leg room in front. How close to the rear edge of deck can I safely place it? The deck is 3/4" plywood, and is 44" long, from the front edge of bow. The base is the standard 7" square one for the pin pedestal. Thanks.
  15. Thanks. I'll try again and let it sit overnite. It's the pin style pedestal mounted on the front deck.
  16. I can't get the pedestal out for anything. I don't think the WD40 is even penetrating, to do any good. What do you suggest? Pipe wrench? Thanks.
  17. I put a floor in my 8 footer, and used the indoor/outdoor carpet from Home Depot. I used 1/4" plywood that I had lying around and I haven't had any problems at all, and I weigh about 225. As far as water, I just pull out the floor and tilt the boat. I doubt the floor weighs more than 15 lbs.
  18. Thanks guys. I'm not sure what I'll do. I may wait until the end of the season.
  19. Thanks Tom. Actually, the deck would be 94" long. The current deck is only 44" long, so it's a little tight up there. I'm also thinking of making the current deck a little longer, and just leaving the floor the way it is. I'm assuming that most guys, when decking over the center seat, keep a level plane from the front deck? Even though the center seat is a few inches lower?
  20. I have a 16' flat bottom jon with a 48" wide froor, a small front deck, and the standard center seat. I'm debating whether to keep my center seat as is(with flat floor) or make 1 large front deck(going over the center seat). What are the pros and cons of each setup? What made you decide either way? The problem is the center bench seat is about 4" lower than the front deck. How do I deal with the height difference? Thanks.
  21. Thanks Jeff. What is the spray adhesive you recommend? When I put the floor section back in, is it necessary to screw it down? The piece is about 42" X 44" I'm guessing.
  22. The front floor section of my carpet is ripped, and I need to re-carpet it. When I did it , I used the indoor/outdoor carpeting from Home Depot, but did not glue it. I just wrapped it under and stapled it. I then screwed it down with finish washers. I'm wondering if I should glue it this time? What I didn't like is the carpet would expand from the sun and have waves in it. If I glue it will the glue solve that problem? Do you recommend I use carpet adhesive or contact cement? Which would be easier to remove when I have to re-carpet again? Thanks.
