  1. What the heck is a kickboat?
  2. I agree with everything Long Mike said EXCEPT the beer !!!! He is only 18 years old.
  3. You're 18 years old and you want to spend $12,000 on a boat? I'm not trying to be rude, but that's crazy. You can find a used 14' or 16' boat, trailer, and small outboard for less than $1,000. Check Craigslist, local papers, etc.
  4. I'm looking to buy a used boat that's stable, lightweight, and easy to handle when I go out alone. I tried and ruled out a 12' V-hull and 12' flat bottom jon because they were too tippy. Both had floors 36" wide. I'm thinking about a mini pontoon 'Basshunter' type boat. It would only be used on a couple small lakes with an electric motor. Does anyone fish out of one of these, and are they pretty stable? I know I can't take it out if it's too choppy. If you use a trailer, what kind do you use? I do not want a canoe, kayak, or anything inflatable. Thanks.
  5. Do you have a picture and a price?
  6. Have you tried out the 14/32 yet? I just sold a a 14/36 because it was too tippy.
  7. What's a push nut? Do you have a picture?
  8. Like I said, I don't know the age of the boat. And I already have a trailer. I bought a V-hull and trailer, but after using it a couple times, I sold the V-hull and kept the trailer.
  9. A 14' flat bottom jon boat, no leaks, with 38" wide floor for $300(No motor or trailer). It includes an old set of oars and 3 swivel seats. I don't know the age of boat, and haven't seen it yet. What do you guys think? Thanks.
  10. I came across this boat for sale today, and I'm wondering if it may be too tippy. It would only be used for a couple small lakes I fish with trolling motor only. I mainly fish sitting down, but I do stand now and then due to back pain. Any opinions? Thanks.
  11. I'm considering buying a 14' aluminum flat bottom and need some input. The floor width is only 32" and I'm worried it may be too tippy. I have a 12' V-hull with a floor width of 36", that I want to sell because it's a little too tippy for me. Will the 32" floor of the flat bottom be just as tippy as the 36" floor of the 12' V-hull? If so, I don't want to buy it. What's a typical floor width for a 12' or 14' flat bottom? Thanks.
  12. I want to bolt my 25 HP outboard to my 16' aluminum jon boat. My owner's manual doesn't say what to torque them to. I'm afraid if I go too tight I may cause damage to motor. Any advice? Thanks.
  13. Thanks guys. If I use the rubber washers, would I still need to use silicone?
  14. I just bought a 12' aluminum V-hull, and am replacing the wood on transom. The piece on outside was too large, so part of the wood was under water. The new piece of plywood I cut was shorter, so it won't be under water anymore. But now I have 2 holes to fill, slightly larger than 1/4". How can I fill them so they won't leak? They are about 3" above the bottom of boat on transom. Thanks.
  15. I just picked up a 12" V-hull, and I want to put in a flat floor. I also want to add as little weight as possible. How have you guys done it? I haven't had any luck searching so far. Is there any need to secure it, or can it just "sit" in the boat. Pics would be a great help, if possible. Thanks.
  16. Great job there. What did you use under the floor for support? I want to put a flat floor in a 12' V-hull, and I need some advice. Thanks.
  17. Thanks guys. I know there are some on the market, but I haven't seen any long enough. And I'd rather make one and save money.
  18. Has anyone made a long handle extension for a transom mount trolling motor? If so, what did you use? A picture would be great, if possible. I need it to be at least 3-4' long, so I can operate it from the center seat. I have a Minn Kota motor. Thanks.
  19. Thanks guys. The beam on the 12' V-hull is 48", and the max. weight capacity is 500 lbs. I'm not sure where to measure the bottom width because of the way it curves up, but it's about 38". I don't have any 12' flat bottom in mind, I'm just wondering about the "average" 12' Jon to compare. What do you think a common floor width would be for a 12' flat Jon? Thanks.
  20. A 12' V-hull, or 12' flat bottom Jon? Assume the beams are the same. Common sense tells me the flat bottom Jon is. What do you guys think? I want to buy one that I will mostly use myself for a couple small lakes that can't handle my larger boat. Thanks for your opinions.
