  1. What is the cheapest battery I can use for running lights and bilge pump ONLY? Is a tractor battery the cheapest? Walmart has them for $25. I would rarely need it, but I want some type of battery hooked up. Thanks.
  2. Thanks. Do you know if there's any special procedure? Seal it how, each screw hole?
  3. Has anyone reversed the center hatch so it opens in the opposite direction? Is it even possible? When seated, I cannot open the hatch because my seat and my crotch area are in the way. Thanks.
  4. After you get them, can you post back here stating if they can be installed with bolts and nuts, instead of using the knobs? Thanks.
  5. Thanks. I saw those the other day. A good price, even with the shipping. Are they designed to be mounted with U-bolts?
  6. That HF 4' X 8' trailer is the one I'm thinking of buying. I saw a couple of pics where they used that trailer with the J-brackets bolted to steel tubing, perpendicular to the frame members.
  7. Thanks. It seems to me that using J-cradles like you did is much easier than using steel and welding or bolting things together, correct? Are those carpeted 2 X 4's under the center kayak?
  8. Very nice. I'm thinking of buying the HF 4' X 8' trailer and doing something similar. How much did the kayak cradles cost? I would be a little worried about the EMT being held only by screws.
  9. I think you'd be better off looking for an aluminum canoe, for the reduced weight.
  10. I don't know if it would be more efficient, but yes, you have to twist and reach behind you to control the motor. If you have a Dick's Sporting Goods near you, they should have the Scanoe on display. The one by me does anyway.
  11. I don't know how to post a pic, but there are 2 brass threaded inserts about 4" apart, slightly about 1/4" diameter. They are on the rear rounded part of seat where it slopes upward. You must not have them, because you would be able to see them. I have the 2012 Mini X by the way.
  12. Thanks. I was thinking of another thread where the people were saying the ride is too bouncy with both springs on, so they removed 1 of them.
  13. Are you removing the original tongue, or sleeving a tongue over it? If you sleeve it, what about the trailer informational sticker with the VIN #? In the pic above, it looks like the sticker is on the front of tongue.
  14. Is there anything about the trailer you DON'T like? How did you secure the plywood to the frame? How did you secure the sides to the plywood/frame? Is it difficult removing the spring? Thanks.
  15. Thanks Goose52, nice job. That's the same trailer I'm thinking of buying. Have you been happy with the trailer? Any negatives?
  16. Has anyone built/modified a trailer for hauling your kayaks? I'm looking into doing this with the 4' trailer from Harbor Freight. Any pics and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  17. 71 views and no replies. Can that be a record here?
  18. Do you know what the threaded inserts are for near the rear of seat? A guy at Malibu told me they are for securing certain seats, but he didn't know which ones. Does anyone know which seats would work with these threaded inserts? Thanks.
  19. I went with the Attwood kayak hoist, $26 from Farm and Fleet. The only problem is the straps are too long. I need to raise kayak about 18" higher. That means I have to shorten each strap by 36" correct? I'm worried that if I make them too short the hoist wont work properly. Any opinions? Thanks.
  20. If so, is it DIY or bought? I need to figure out how to make one or buy one ASAP. Are there any I can buy in a store instead of online? Thanks.
