gloves

Featured Replies

Anybody know the name of the gloves that a lot of the pros were wearing this weekend at the classic??? I have yet to find a pair that I like. Thanks.

have you used those BL? I was wondering how warm they would be. I have a pair of UA gloves that are similar but I seemed to have misplaced them and I might need a new pair.

I haven't used those, but do wear a pair of their Hurlock gloves (similar to brown jersey gloves) for hunting and cold-weather fishing.  They're quite warm.

Do you guys have problems casting baitcasters with gloves on? I tried and couldn't get the hang of it. Either stopped way short because the material was hitting the spool or backlashed like crazy. I'm thinking about trying latex gloves as a base layer and then wool finger-less gloves on top of those.

that's the trick, getting a balance of warmth and still have something thin enough to be dexterous

I have found that a pair of thin garden type gloves over latex gloves with my casting thumb and pointer finger cut off with a hand warmer on the back of my hand under the latex works well. Wow what a run-on sentence!

I used the UA liner gloves all this past winter. They're a compromise: they're thin, water will soak through the glove, and they're not very warm. BUT, they keep the wind off your hands, they DO add some warmth, and they have reasonably good sensitivity and dexterity - I can cast a BC reel with them on. For me, they were good for temps down to the lower 40s or so. When the temps were in the mid to lower 30s, I had to add a thin wool glove over the UA liners. When the temps got into the 20s, my fingers were starting to freeze about as fast as the rod line guides were icing up so it was time to call it a day...

I use these & like them quite well. They have slits & velcro on the thumbs & pointer fingers so that you peel them back if you want.  Makes it easier for tying knots & stuff or for thumbing the spool on a baitcaster.

These are what I wear , good to about 30 degrees. The fingers fold back for easy casting.
